Yellowgrape acquires Markant Internet, adding 20 SEO specialists and opening a third office in Hengelo. Learn about this strategic digital marketing expansion.
Yellowgrape, a leading digital marketing and e-commerce consultancy based in Amsterdam backed by Committed Capital, announces the acquisition of Markant Internet, a specialized SEO, SEA, and link-building agency headquartered in Hengelo. The transaction, disclosed on July 8, 2026, marks Yellowgrape’s strategic expansion with the opening of its third office in Hengelo, complementing its existing locations in Amsterdam and Berlin.
The acquisition brings 20 digital marketing specialists in-house, significantly boosting Yellowgrape’s expertise in organic search optimization. While financial terms remain undisclosed, the deal represents a full acquisition of Markant Internet, with operational integration planned through the end of 2026 and full rebranding under Yellowgrape by January 1, 2027.
Markant Internet has served the Twente region for 15 years, building a loyal client base primarily among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The company specializes in SEO, SEA, and link-building services, areas that are increasingly critical as consumer search behavior evolves. Founder Niek Olijslager fully transfers ownership, while current managing director Olaf Peters will continue to lead the Hengelo office under Yellowgrape’s umbrella.
This acquisition follows Yellowgrape’s 2024 purchase of FSG in Berlin and reflects a deliberate strategy to strengthen capabilities in organic growth channels. Rik van den Wijngaard, Yellowgrape’s Co-founder and Chief Innovations Officer, highlights the shift in consumer search patterns from traditional Google queries to AI assistants and language models. He emphasizes that organic findability within these new platforms will become a primary growth driver in the AI era.
By integrating Markant’s seasoned SEO and link-building team, Yellowgrape aims to offer a comprehensive organic growth proposition that rivals across Western Europe will find difficult to match. The expanded service portfolio now includes marketing automation, customer 360 analytics, social advertising, conversion rate optimization (CRO), branding, and data-driven marketing, providing cross-selling opportunities for both existing and new clients.
The acquisition also enhances Yellowgrape’s geographic footprint, with three offices spanning Amsterdam, Berlin, and Hengelo. This multi-location presence supports broader market coverage and operational synergies, including shared technology platforms and consolidated administrative functions.
Despite the strategic benefits, integration challenges remain. Aligning corporate cultures across offices in different countries, harmonizing technology systems, and retaining key talent are critical to realizing the deal’s full potential. Yellowgrape acknowledges these risks but remains confident in its ability to manage them effectively.
Looking ahead, Yellowgrape plans a phased integration process, with Markant Internet operating as a self-managing hub until full rebranding in early 2027. The combined entity will total approximately 75 specialists, positioning Yellowgrape as a stronger competitor in the evolving digital marketing landscape, particularly in AI-driven search optimization.
Industry observers note that this move may accelerate consolidation in the European digital marketing sector, prompting competitors to enhance their AI and SEO capabilities. Yellowgrape’s expanded expertise and geographic reach could pressure rivals to pursue similar acquisitions or invest heavily in technology and talent.
For clients, the acquisition promises access to a broader range of digital marketing services and deeper expertise in emerging search technologies. Yellowgrape invites inquiries from brands interested in navigating the changing search environment and leveraging organic growth in the AI era.
