Verdane-backed Evondos Acquires Dutch Digital Care Platform Compaan

Evondos acquires Dutch digital care platform Compaan, integrating medication dispensing with remote care to improve homecare efficiency and quality.

Evondos, a prominent European provider of automated medication dispensing and homecare services backed by private equity firm Verdane, announced on August 19, 2026, the acquisition of Compaan, a Dutch digital care platform specializing in homecare and geriatric rehabilitation care (GRZ). This strategic move combines two complementary solutions focused on enhancing care delivery for older adults.

Compaan’s platform, developed over more than a decade, supports over 10,000 clients across 150 homecare organizations and 45 GRZ providers in the Netherlands. Its tablet-based solution facilitates remote care, video-assisted consultations, and digital workflows, enabling approximately 33,000 virtual care moments weekly. The acquisition details, including financial terms, were not disclosed.

Evondos operates across eight European markets, supporting more than 40,000 individuals living independently at home. The company’s automated medication dispensing devices have delivered over 120 million medication sachets, saving more than 7.5 million hours of nursing and care staff time. Evondos collaborates with over 700 municipalities and care organizations, serving 30,000 nurses and care professionals.

By acquiring Compaan, Evondos aims to integrate medication management with digital care platforms, creating a unified solution for homecare and geriatric rehabilitation providers. Frans Cromme, CEO of Evondos, stated, “We have been impressed by what Compaan has built. Even before this acquisition, we had begun exploring opportunities to collaborate. By bringing our organisations together, we are combining two leading solutions that address the same fundamental challenge: how to continue delivering high-quality care with the people and resources available.” He added that the combined platform will enhance efficiency and quality of care for providers and municipalities.

Joost Hermanns, founder of Compaan, commented, “Compaan has built a strong position in the Dutch market with a platform that is trusted by care professionals and valued by users. Joining a strong market leader like Evondos opens up new opportunities to further develop our offering and reach more customers, while continuing to serve our existing clients with the same care and quality.” Customers can expect continuity in service and support, with gradual access to a broader range of integrated solutions.

The acquisition reflects broader industry trends toward digital transformation in healthcare, particularly in homecare and geriatric rehabilitation sectors. Combining automated medication dispensing with remote care platforms addresses increasing demands for scalable, client-centered care solutions amid workforce constraints.

Financial specifics were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to generate synergies through cross-selling to overlapping customer bases, consolidating technology platforms, and streamlining operations. Integration challenges include aligning technology systems and coordinating sales and support teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.

Looking ahead, Evondos plans to leverage the combined platform to expand virtual care capabilities and improve care coordination. The acquisition strengthens Evondos’ position in the Dutch market and signals potential acceleration of consolidation and innovation in digital homecare services across Europe.
