Gimv-backed Hemink Groep Acquires Instain Installatietechniek to Expand Services

Hemink Groep acquires Instain installatietechniek, integrating installation technology into its real estate maintenance platform. Learn more about this strategic move.

Hemink Groep B.V., a leading player in the Dutch real estate maintenance sector backed by Belgium private equity firm Gimv, has acquired Instain installatietechniek, a specialist in installation technology services. This strategic move integrates Instain’s technical expertise into Hemink’s comprehensive property maintenance platform, aiming to deliver more holistic solutions to clients.

While the financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, the acquisition marks a significant step in Hemink’s expansion strategy. Instain will continue to operate independently from its existing locations in Apeldoorn and Terwolde, maintaining its current management team led by Guido de Haas and Gerwin Stijf. Existing client relationships and contracts will be preserved to ensure service continuity.

Hemink Groep focuses on integrated real estate maintenance, combining multiple disciplines to support sustainable and future-proof property management. Instain’s installation technology capabilities are increasingly vital due to the energy transition and complex sustainability requirements facing the sector. By bringing installation services in-house, Hemink enhances its ability to manage the full lifecycle of real estate assets.

Rutger Vrielink of Hemink explains, “For our clients, this acquisition means stronger integrated advisory and service delivery. Adding installation technology allows us to better control quality, costs, and performance throughout the property lifecycle.”

The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends emphasizing sustainability and energy efficiency. Real estate maintenance providers are expanding their service portfolios to include technical installation and energy solutions, responding to regulatory pressures and market demand for greener buildings.

Operational synergies include cross-selling installation services to Hemink’s existing customer base and consolidating procurement and project management functions. The combined expertise supports more efficient execution of complex renovation and sustainability projects.

Challenges ahead include aligning organizational cultures and integrating technical teams while maintaining client trust during the transition. Hemink plans to leverage Instain’s established teams and local presence to minimize disruption.

Looking forward, Hemink aims to solidify its market position as a comprehensive provider of real estate maintenance and installation services. The acquisition is expected to enhance customer retention and open new opportunities driven by the energy transition.

As the Dutch property maintenance market consolidates, competitors may respond by expanding their own service offerings or forming partnerships to keep pace with Hemink’s integrated platform.
