VDK Groep, backed by German private equity EMK Capital, has acquired Nitech GmbH, a well-established electrotechnical building equipment company headquartered in Oberkirch, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The acquisition was announced on June 2, 2026, marking a strategic expansion for VDK Groep in the German market. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Nitech GmbH employs nearly 100 staff and specializes in delivering electrotechnical solutions across various sectors, including industry, healthcare, public institutions, and commercial enterprises. Its service portfolio ranges from energy supply and security technology to complex communication and infrastructure systems.
VDK Groep, a prominent player in the electrotechnical installation sector, already operates in Baden-Württemberg through its Builtech subsidiaries Hertner and Zepp. The addition of Nitech strengthens VDK Groep’s regional presence and technical capabilities. Michael Übel, Managing Director of VDK Groep, states, “With the acquisition of Nitech GmbH, we reinforce our footprint in Baden-Württemberg. Nitech’s nearly 100 employees and their expertise in planning and installing electrotechnical systems add significant technical strength to our group.”
For Nitech’s former owner, Michael Niklaus, the decision to join VDK Groep was driven by a focus on long-term employee welfare and cultural alignment. He comments, “It was crucial for me that our employees continue working in an environment that fits our company culture. From the start, I felt that VDK Groep shares this human-centered approach, which strengthened my decision.”
Under the acquisition, Nitech will continue to operate independently from its Oberkirch location, maintaining existing teams and organizational structures. Frans van der Kolk, founder and CEO of VDK Groep, adds, “Nitech is a company with strong technical competence, regional roots, and a clear commitment to employees and customers. These are exactly the types of companies we seek to integrate into the VDK Groep.”
The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends of consolidation within the electrotechnical and installation sectors, where companies seek to expand geographic reach and technical expertise to meet growing demand for integrated infrastructure solutions. VDK Groep’s strategy focuses on leveraging combined engineering capabilities to pursue larger, complex projects across industrial, healthcare, and public sectors.
Operational synergies expected from the deal include shared procurement efficiencies, consolidation of administrative functions, and optimized resource allocation across overlapping regions. Additionally, the integration of engineering and project management teams aims to standardize installation and maintenance processes, enhancing overall execution quality.
While the acquisition strengthens VDK Groep’s market share in Baden-Württemberg, it also intensifies competitive pressures in the region. Competitors may respond with similar acquisitions or increased investments in innovation and service quality. Key integration challenges include preserving Nitech’s company culture, aligning operational systems, and managing potential redundancies.
Looking ahead, VDK Groep plans to maintain Nitech’s operational independence while fostering collaboration to maximize technical and commercial benefits. The acquisition is expected to contribute to long-term growth and reinforce VDK Groep’s position as a leading electrotechnical installation group in Europe.
