Pelican Energy Partners acquires Environmental Services, Inc. to expand nuclear containment and environmental remediation services. Read the full deal analysis.

Pelican Energy Partners, a private equity firm focused on the energy services and equipment sectors, has acquired Environmental Services, Inc. (EAI), a specialized provider of environmental remediation and nuclear decontamination services. The deal was announced on April 27, 2026. The acquisition aims to expand Pelican’s nuclear containment platform by integrating EAI’s proprietary technology and technical expertise.

EAI delivers critical environmental and radiological services across energy, industrial, and government markets. Its capabilities include site assessment and remediation, hazardous waste management, nuclear decontamination, and decommissioning support. The company maintains established relationships with key government agencies such as the Department of Energy and the Department of War, as well as leading commercial operators.

While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the transaction involves a full acquisition of EAI. Legal counsel for Pelican Energy Partners was provided by Reed Smith, with McLane Middleton representing EAI.

Pelican Energy Partners, founded in 2012, specializes in strategic investments in small to mid-sized, high-growth companies within the oil & gas and nuclear sectors. The firm has raised over $1 billion in committed capital and is currently investing from its fourth fund, which focuses on companies providing critical services to the nuclear power industry.

Paul Ernster, a representative of Pelican, highlighted EAI’s proprietary technology, stating, “EAI’s proprietary technology allows customers to decontaminate high level to low level radioactive material in a variety of media from concrete to steel. This technology keeps workers and the environment safe while saving customers millions of dollars in a decommissioning process. Using EAI to reduce nuclear waste provides the social license for the nuclear industries continued growth.”

Randy Martin, President of EAI, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are excited to partner with Pelican, who shares our focus on safety, technical excellence, and long-term value creation in critical infrastructure services. Pelican’s experience in building and scaling energy services platforms will support our continued growth as we expand our role in nuclear containment, environmental remediation, and radiological services.” EAI’s existing leadership team will remain in place to ensure continuity for customers and employees.

The acquisition strengthens Pelican’s position in the US nuclear containment and environmental remediation market by adding specialized technical capabilities and expanding its government and commercial client base. The integration will leverage EAI’s proprietary decontamination technology to enhance Pelican’s service offerings and operational efficiencies.

Industry trends indicate increasing demand for nuclear decommissioning and environmental remediation services, driven by regulatory requirements and the need to maintain aging nuclear infrastructure. Pelican’s move aligns with a broader strategy to support US supply chain organizations in critical infrastructure sectors.

Operational synergies include consolidating administrative functions, optimizing project management, and standardizing safety and compliance protocols across the combined entity. However, integration challenges remain, such as aligning specialized technical teams and maintaining key government relationships.

Competitively, this acquisition may accelerate industry consolidation and increase pressure on rivals to enhance their nuclear remediation capabilities and government contract portfolios.

Looking ahead, Pelican plans to fully integrate EAI into its nuclear containment platform, scaling proprietary technologies and expanding service reach. The deal underscores Pelican’s commitment to advancing critical infrastructure services within the nuclear energy sector.
