Neele-Vat acquires strategic stake in Antwerp Global Shipping, expanding maritime and intermodal logistics in Benelux. Read more on this 2026 deal.
Neele-Vat, a leading logistics provider headquartered in Rotterdam, has taken a strategic minority stake in Antwerp Global Shipping (AGS), a Belgium-based freight forwarding and shipping company. The transaction, announced on May 21, 2026, marks a significant expansion for Neele-Vat into maritime and intermodal logistics centered around the Port of Antwerp.
Founded in 2006, AGS specializes in ocean freight, air freight, breakbulk, project cargo, warehousing, and multimodal logistics. Operating from Antwerp, one of Europe’s busiest ports, AGS serves a global customer base with deep local expertise and a strong network.
For Neele-Vat, which has operated since 1975 primarily in road transport, sea, and air freight, the investment represents a strategic move to complement its existing services. AGS’s established presence in Antwerp provides Neele-Vat with a permanent foothold in a critical maritime hub where it previously had no direct operations.
“This is a logical and valuable expansion for Neele-Vat,” a company spokesperson said. “Both organizations complement each other well. AGS’s thorough knowledge of the Port of Antwerp and its local network combined with Neele-Vat’s international scale and service range creates new opportunities for our customers.” AGS will continue to operate independently within the Neele-Vat group for the foreseeable future.
The combined group now employs over 1,700 people across more than 20 countries, enabling enhanced support for customers both locally in Antwerp and internationally. The partnership aims to leverage synergies by integrating road and maritime transport services, expanding the customer base, and improving operational efficiencies.
Industry experts note that this deal strengthens Neele-Vat’s position in the competitive Benelux logistics market by adding maritime shipping capabilities to its portfolio. The integration of complementary services is expected to facilitate bundled offerings, improve supply chain visibility, and optimize asset utilization.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. No external advisors were reported to be involved. The minority stake acquisition reflects a growing trend of consolidation and strategic partnerships in the logistics sector, driven by customer demand for seamless multimodal transport solutions.
Looking ahead, Neele-Vat and AGS face integration challenges including aligning corporate cultures, harmonizing IT systems, and managing regulatory compliance across jurisdictions. Retaining key talent and customer relationships will be critical during the transition.
Overall, the transaction positions Neele-Vat to capitalize on expanding intermodal transport demand in Europe and enhances its ability to offer end-to-end logistics solutions combining road, sea, and air freight.
