Consensus acquires AI platform Peel to create the first AI-native demo automation platform, enhancing buyer engagement and accelerating sales cycles.
Consensus, the leading intelligent demo automation platform backed by Sumeru Equity Partners, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Peel, an AI platform specialising in converting static content into dynamic, real-time conversations between buyers and agents. The transaction, announced on April 22, 2026, is scheduled to close in the second quarter of 2026, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Sumeru Equity Partners invested $110 million in Consensus in March 2023, supporting the company’s accelerated growth and category leadership in intelligent demo automation as enterprise software companies increasingly prioritise doing more with less amid economic uncertainty.
The acquisition will combine Peel’s AI-powered conversational agents with Consensus’ interactive demos, product tours, and analytics to create the first AI-native platform capable of conversing, demonstrating, and learning simultaneously throughout the entire buyer journey. This integration aims to transform traditional B2B sales processes by enabling buyers to independently explore products, build internal consensus, and experience value without waiting for scheduled demos or sales representatives.
Consensus is trusted by 60% of the world’s largest software companies, including Oracle, Atlassian, Salesforce, and SAP. The company holds the top position in demo automation on G2 and is recognised as a Great Place to Work. Peel’s platform enhances static content such as websites, videos, presentations, and PDFs by turning them into interactive, personalised experiences that capture zero-party intent data and adapt in real time to buyer interactions.
Doug Johnson, CEO of Consensus, highlights the strategic importance of the deal: “AI enables a transformational shift from showing a product through a static demo to letting the product sell itself. Buyers want to explore, ask questions, and build confidence on their own terms. With Peel, every demo and interaction becomes a conversation that drives the deal forward, providing sales teams with actionable intent data to progress opportunities effectively.”
Peel CEO Brannon Santos adds, “Our platform was designed to make content interactive, allowing buyers to engage rather than just consume. Joining Consensus allows us to scale this vision, creating a system where products can converse, educate, and move buyers forward without requiring traditional sales motions.” Ben Henson, Peel’s CRO, further states, “The era of waiting for demos or reps is over. Consensus built the gold standard for buyer product experiences, and Peel taught that product to answer back. Together, we’re building a buying experience with no waiting room.”
The combined platform will offer a continuous, buyer-led journey with personalised experiences tailored to roles and industries. Revenue teams will benefit from a unified view of engagement across buying committees, enabling more precise sales strategies and accelerated deal velocity.
Strategically, the acquisition strengthens Consensus’ position as the first AI-native demo automation platform, expanding its addressable market and accelerating sales cycles through enhanced buyer engagement and intent data capture. The integration is expected to streamline R&D efforts, consolidate overlapping functions, and reduce reliance on third-party tools by delivering an end-to-end solution.
Industry analysts note that 80% of buying decisions occur before sales engagement, underscoring the importance of self-directed, personalised product experiences. Consensus and Peel’s combined offering addresses this shift by automating discovery, scaling product education, and enabling buyers to explore at their own pace.
Looking ahead, Consensus plans to rapidly integrate Peel’s capabilities into its platform, expanding reach across new industries and buyer scenarios. The company acknowledges potential integration challenges, including aligning product roadmaps, managing cultural differences, and ensuring data privacy compliance.
As AI reshapes software purchasing, this acquisition positions Consensus at the forefront of a new category where the product experience itself drives revenue growth. The deal signals accelerated consolidation and innovation within the demo automation and conversational AI sectors, prompting competitors to enhance their offerings or pursue strategic partnerships.
