DKV Mobility acquires Belgian eMobility scale-up Optimile, enhancing charging software and payment solutions across Europe. Read more on this strategic deal.
DKV Mobility, a prominent European B2B platform focused on payments and mobility solutions, has completed the acquisition of Optimile, a Ghent-based scale-up specializing in eMobility software for electric vehicle charging stations and related services. Founded in 2016, Optimile employs around 60 people and offers Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) solutions under its Mobiflow brand as well as white-label products serving both Belgian and international clients.
The transaction, announced on May 4, 2026 and supported by previous investors BNP Paribas Fortis and AG Insurance, marks a strategic step for Optimile to leverage DKV Mobility’s extensive European footprint and expertise in integrated mobility solutions. Although financial terms were not disclosed, the deal is expected to accelerate Optimile’s growth and internationalization.
Optimile has developed a strong position in the eMobility sector by providing smart, sustainable, and user-friendly charging software. Its solutions enable businesses and users to transition to electric mobility efficiently. DKV Mobility’s acquisition aims to integrate Optimile’s charging software with its payment platform, creating a seamless experience for end users and expanding the combined product offering across Europe.
Laurent Loncke, Head of Retail Banking at BNP Paribas Fortis, commented, “As a long-standing partner of Optimile, we are proud of how the company has evolved into a leading player in smart charging solutions for electric mobility. This acquisition by DKV Mobility offers Optimile the opportunity to further strengthen its innovation capacity and market position. It is a logical next step for a team passionate about shaping the future of sustainable mobility.”
Edwin Klaps, Managing Director Broker Channel & Non-Life Development at AG Insurance, added, “Optimile has grown into a scale-up with an impressive client portfolio, advanced technology, and a rapidly expanding network of charging solutions. With DKV Mobility’s knowledge and experience, Optimile is well-positioned to enter its next phase of international development. We wish the team every success in this new chapter.”
DKV Mobility’s acquisition of Optimile aligns with broader industry trends emphasizing integrated mobility and sustainable transport infrastructure. The combined entity aims to cross-sell payment and charging solutions, leverage shared R&D resources, and achieve economies of scale in procurement and operations. Integration plans include unifying technology platforms to enhance customer onboarding and service delivery, as well as combining data analytics capabilities to optimize mobility and charging patterns.
Market analysts note that this acquisition strengthens DKV Mobility’s position as a leading integrated mobility solutions provider in Europe. It also accelerates consolidation in the eMobility sector, where competitors may respond with similar acquisitions or strategic partnerships to expand their service ecosystems.
Key challenges ahead include aligning technology platforms, managing cultural integration between a scale-up and a larger corporate entity, and retaining Optimile’s specialized workforce to maintain innovation momentum. Both companies emphasize their commitment to a smooth transition to minimize disruption for customers.
Looking forward, the acquisition is expected to enable the development of new bundled offerings combining payment and charging services, increase customer retention through integrated solutions, and drive innovation in smart charging and sustainable mobility services across Europe.
