BPD Europe B.V., a leading residential property developer in the Netherlands, has acquired Blauwhoed, a Dutch real estate development firm known for its strong project portfolio primarily in the Randstad region. The acquisition, announced on November 5, 2026, brings 45 new employees to BPD and expands its development and acquisition capabilities.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Blauwhoed will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary under BPD Europe, retaining its brand, organizational structure, and strategic autonomy. The transaction is subject to approval by the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) and other customary conditions.

BPD Europe specializes in large-scale, long-term area developments, while Blauwhoed is recognized for its entrepreneurial approach, conceptual strength, and strong acquisition position, especially within the Randstad urban area. By maintaining both development models, BPD aims to broaden its capacity to realize new housing projects and area developments across the Netherlands.

Harm Janssen, CEO of BPD Europe, states, “With Blauwhoed, we add not only a substantial housing portfolio but also complementary development and acquisition strength under a strong management team. Both companies have distinct market positions, and their combination enhances our growth potential and contribution to the Dutch housing challenge. Blauwhoed will remain independent to preserve its identity while benefiting from BPD’s knowledge, network, and expertise to create sustainable and resilient living environments.”

Blauwhoed CEO Phillip Smits adds, “This acquisition marks a new phase for Blauwhoed. Retaining our independence and team allows us to grow further. Leveraging BPD’s scale and expertise, we can seize new development opportunities and strengthen our position in the Dutch housing market. Our ambition is to develop healthy, sustainable, and connected living environments that add long-term value.”

Blauwhoed’s project portfolio focuses on apartments and ground-level homes in both ownership and rental segments, with a strong presence in North Holland, South Holland, and Utrecht. The company also maintains an active acquisition pipeline for future developments. BPD and Blauwhoed have previously collaborated on projects such as Kreekpark in Wilnis, Lisserbroek, and Weespersluis in Weesp.

The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends emphasizing sustainable, circular, and climate-adaptive housing solutions. Both companies plan to exchange knowledge and expertise in innovative residential concepts, flexible housing solutions, biobased construction, grid-aware building, climate adaptation, and community participation.

Advisors for BPD Europe included Capital Fit, Houthoff, PWC, and Van der Steenhoven Advocaten. Blauwhoed was advised by KPMG and Loyens & Loeff.

Looking ahead, BPD Europe aims to integrate Blauwhoed’s operational strengths while preserving its entrepreneurial culture. The combined entity expects to accelerate project delivery, optimize capital allocation, and enhance sustainable development leadership in the Dutch housing market. Regulatory approval remains pending, with integration plans focused on maintaining project timelines and aligning corporate governance.
