Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, has acquired MediReport, a specialist in advanced reporting and workflow software for cardiovascular informatics. The acquisition, announced on October 20, 2026, aims to enhance Philips’ cardiovascular informatics portfolio by integrating MediReport’s AI-powered diagnostic tools and structured documentation capabilities.

MediReport’s flagship product, MediReport 360, supports real-time, structured cardiovascular documentation and reporting at the point of care. It offers guided workflows before, during, and after procedures, enabling healthcare providers to capture clinical data once and reuse it across physician and nursing reports, coding, registries, analytics, charge capture, and follow-up. The software supports both cloud and on-premises deployment and features vendor-neutral interfaces compatible with imaging, hemodynamic, and hospital IT systems.

Philips plans to leverage these capabilities to complement its existing cardiology informatics suite, which includes Cardiovascular Workspace for image and information management, Ultrasound Workspace for ultrasound analysis and reporting, and interventional solutions for cath-lab information and hemodynamic workflows. The integration is expected to create a more connected cardiovascular care experience by simplifying data flow across diagnostic and interventional cardiology teams.

Philips’ Business Unit Leader for Imaging Informatics, Madhuri Sebastian, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition: “Clinicians need technology that fits the way they work and gives them more time for patient care. The capabilities developed by MediReport complement Philips’ strengths in cardiovascular imaging, hemodynamics, and enterprise informatics. Together, they are expected to simplify how information moves across cardiac care, enabling a more connected experience for care teams. This also supports Philips’ longer-term direction towards cloud-ready, AI-enabled cardiovascular and integrated diagnostics workflows.”

The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends emphasizing AI and cloud technologies to improve clinical workflows and patient outcomes in cardiovascular care. According to Philips’ Future Health Index 2025: Cardiology Snapshot, 79% of cardiac care professionals reported losing clinical time due to incomplete or inaccessible patient data, with nearly half losing over 45 minutes per shift. This highlights the critical need for integrated, accessible clinical information systems.

While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the acquisition is expected to generate synergies by expanding Philips’ AI-powered diagnostic offerings, streamlining software development, and enhancing interoperability across cardiovascular care platforms. Operationally, the integration aims to improve workflow efficiency and accelerate innovation by combining Philips’ and MediReport’s expertise in AI and informatics.

Philips will showcase the enhanced cardiovascular informatics capabilities, including innovations in imaging, physiology, procedural guidance, and reporting workflows, at the upcoming Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2026 conference. The company plans to continue advancing its Integrated Diagnostics vision by delivering connected, cloud-ready solutions that support cardiovascular care from diagnosis through intervention and follow-up.

Looking ahead, Philips faces integration challenges such as aligning technology stacks, ensuring seamless interoperability, and maintaining customer satisfaction during the transition. However, the acquisition positions Philips to strengthen its leadership in cardiovascular informatics amid accelerating industry consolidation and competitive investment in AI-driven diagnostics.
