Gimv-backed Metis Group Acquires Majority Stake in EPAC to Expand Electronics Manufacturing

Metis Group acquires majority stake in EPAC, expanding its electronics manufacturing services with flexible PCB assembly and prototyping capabilities.

Metis Group, backed by Gimv, has agreed to acquire a majority shareholding in EPAC, a rapidly growing electronics contract manufacturer specializing in printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), cable assembly, and module construction. The deal, announced on 10 August 2026, marks a strategic step for Metis Group to broaden its footprint in the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) market, particularly in the high-mix, low-volume segment.

While financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, the acquisition grants Metis Group controlling interest in EPAC. The existing management team of EPAC, comprising Arno Boot, Iva Borisova, and Svilen Borisov, will retain minority stakes and continue in their roles as managing directors to ensure operational continuity and support future growth.

Founded in 2011, EPAC has established itself as a specialist in flexible electronics manufacturing, serving over 60 customers across diverse sectors including energy, industry, agriculture, and defense. The company is recognized for its ability to handle complex, customized production runs with short lead times, including rapid prototyping, pilot runs, and small to medium-sized series production.

Metis Group, a consortium of electronics companies providing development, manufacturing, and product lifecycle management services, views the acquisition as a complementary fit. EPAC’s flexible supply chain and high-mix production capabilities augment Metis Group’s existing strengths in engineering, technology, and high-volume manufacturing.

Reinier Beltman, CEO of Metis Group, states, “We are very excited to welcome EPAC to the Group. EPAC serves similar target markets like Energy, Industry, Agriculture and Defence and provides an additional operating model to serve customers in a very fast and flexible way including rapid prototyping. Together with Metis’ strength we can support our joint customer base even better. We are looking forward to work with Arno, Iva and Svilen and the team.” The EPAC management team echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the alignment in philosophy and the opportunity to deliver enhanced value to customers through the partnership.

The acquisition aligns with Metis Group’s buy-and-build strategy aimed at creating a portfolio of high-quality electronics companies that complement each other. Boris Wirtz, chairman of Metis Group’s Supervisory Board, notes, “The acquisition fits perfectly in our buy-and-build strategy which is focused on creating a group of high-quality electronics companies that complement and strengthen each other, whereby we concentrate on realizing synergies through continued knowledge and best-practice sharing.”

From a market perspective, the deal strengthens Metis Group’s position in the EMS sector by integrating EPAC’s flexible, high-mix low-volume manufacturing with Metis’ high-volume production capabilities. This combination is expected to enhance service offerings, enabling cross-selling opportunities and access to new customers in key industrial sectors.

Operational synergies include shared procurement efficiencies, optimized production scheduling, and improved supply chain responsiveness. The integration will also focus on maintaining EPAC’s management continuity while aligning operational processes and company cultures.

Looking ahead, Metis Group plans to leverage EPAC’s rapid prototyping and module construction expertise alongside its own engineering and manufacturing scale to accelerate growth and increase customer value. The companies will collaborate closely to integrate their capabilities and expand their combined market reach.

Regulatory approvals and integration processes are expected to proceed smoothly, with both parties committed to a seamless transition. The acquisition positions Metis Group to better compete in a consolidating EMS market, where flexible manufacturing and comprehensive service portfolios are increasingly critical.

Overall, the transaction represents a strategic expansion for Metis Group, enhancing its electronics manufacturing services and supporting its long-term growth ambitions.
