Ansor-backed Kaleidex, a contract manufacturing organisation (CMO) specialising in medical device manufacturing and services, has completed the acquisition of Meditec Source GmbH & Co. KG on 28 July 2026. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Tuttlingen, Germany, Meditec Source is a specialist medical technology services provider focused on instrument development, sourcing, and project management, with technical expertise in orthopaedics, traumatology, and spine surgery.
This acquisition represents Kaleidex’s first entry into the German market and establishes a presence in the Tuttlingen medical technology cluster, widely recognised as one of Europe’s foremost centres for surgical instruments and medical devices. The cluster supplies an estimated 50% of the global surgical instruments market, making it a strategic location for Kaleidex’s expansion into continental Europe.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Kaleidex has acquired 100% ownership of Meditec Source, which will continue to operate from its existing site in Tuttlingen. Martin Streng, founder and managing director of Meditec Source, remains in his role to lead the business through integration and future growth phases.
Kaleidex is backed by private equity firm Ansor LLP and has built a portfolio of specialist medical device manufacturers and service providers, including Kirkstall Precision, Oracle Precision, OxDevice, and Serrations. The acquisition of Meditec Source adds end-to-end regulatory and quality management expertise to Kaleidex’s existing strengths in precision engineering, prototyping, cleanroom assembly, and specialist manufacturing.
Gavin Meadows, CEO of Kaleidex, stated, “This acquisition represents an important milestone as we establish our first presence in Germany and expand into one of Europe’s most respected medical technology regions. Martin and his team bring deep regulatory expertise alongside long-standing relationships across the surgical instruments value chain. Their capabilities are highly complementary to the strengths we have built in the UK and accelerate our ability to support customers with truly end-to-end medical device solutions.”
Meditec Source supports medical device manufacturers through three integrated service pillars: instrument development, sourcing, and project management. The company holds certifications including DIN EN ISO 13485:2016 and complies with Annex IX, Chapters I & III of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices (MDR). Its customer base spans Europe, North America, and Asia.
Martin Streng added, “Joining Kaleidex allows us to retain the values and expertise that have made us successful while giving our customers access to a broader range of specialist capabilities and a clear path to scale our own services. We’re looking forward to working together to help even more medical device companies bring innovative products to market while continuing to deliver for the customers who have trusted us over many years.”
The acquisition aligns with Kaleidex’s strategy to create a connected network of specialist medical device manufacturers and service providers. By integrating Meditec Source’s regulatory and quality management capabilities with its existing manufacturing expertise, Kaleidex aims to streamline development processes, reduce complexity, and accelerate time to market for medical technologies.
Industry experts note that this move strengthens Kaleidex’s competitive position in the European surgical instruments market, particularly within the Tuttlingen cluster, which accounts for roughly half of the global supply. The acquisition is expected to generate synergies through cross-selling opportunities, operational efficiencies, and enhanced regulatory compliance.
Challenges remain in integrating corporate cultures and aligning regulatory systems across jurisdictions. However, Kaleidex’s management emphasizes a phased integration approach to maintain service continuity and retain key personnel.
Looking ahead, Kaleidex plans to leverage Meditec Source’s expertise to expand its service offerings and customer reach across Europe and beyond. The acquisition underscores the ongoing consolidation trend in the medical device manufacturing sector, as companies seek to offer comprehensive, end-to-end solutions amid increasing regulatory complexity.
