Fera Science Ltd, a York-based life-science and biotechnology firm, has finalized the acquisition of 3Keel Group Ltd, a specialist sustainability consultancy established in 2013. This strategic move, announced on April 27, 2026, merges Fera’s expert laboratory and field services with 3Keel’s advisory capabilities, creating a comprehensive platform for delivering end-to-end environmental solutions.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal represents a full acquisition of 3Keel by Fera. Integration efforts will commence immediately, with both companies committed to a seamless transition for clients and employees. The acquisition is supported by Bridgepoint, Fera’s majority shareholder since January 2024, alongside the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). Advisers on the deal included Strata Partners, Grant Thornton, and Womble Bond Dickinson.

Fera Science Ltd operates a biotech campus in York employing over 550 people. The company has experienced double-digit revenue growth since Bridgepoint’s investment earlier this year. 3Keel Group is recognized for its evidence-led sustainability consulting, focusing on risk mitigation and resilience across supply chains, food systems, and landscapes.

The acquisition strengthens Fera’s market position by combining its scientific research and measurement capabilities with 3Keel’s strategic consulting expertise. This integration aims to deliver actionable, evidence-based advice addressing climate risk, regulatory compliance, and environmental resilience. A Fera spokesperson stated, “Joining with 3Keel presents a fantastic opportunity to grow our combined capabilities in sustainability services and responsible environmental stewardship.”

3Keel’s leadership expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Fera’s scientific expertise and government connections as key assets that will enhance their consulting impact and foster innovation.

Industry trends show increasing demand for integrated sustainability and scientific advisory services as organizations face mounting environmental and regulatory pressures. This acquisition positions Fera to offer differentiated solutions by combining translational research, laboratory measurement, and strategic consulting.

Financial details such as valuation and multiples were not disclosed. The deal is expected to generate synergies through cross-selling, expanded service offerings, and operational efficiencies including shared infrastructure and streamlined project management.

Looking ahead, Fera and 3Keel plan to integrate their teams and systems to deliver a unified client experience. The combined group aims to capitalize on growing market opportunities in sustainability and life sciences, driving innovation and long-term impact.
