XPartners Group AB (publ), a leading European engineering and design consulting firm backed by Axcel and Evolver, has expanded its Dutch operations by acquiring CRUX Groep, a specialist in geotechnical engineering, geohydrology, environmental impact monitoring, and bespoke software development for the construction and geo sectors. The acquisition was announced on November 4, 2026.

CRUX Groep, established in 2016, serves as the parent company to three independent businesses: CRUX Engineering, BouwRisk, and CEMS. Together, these entities provide a comprehensive range of services including geotechnical advice, soil quality and risk assessment, environmental monitoring of construction projects, and tailored software solutions. The group operates from offices in Amsterdam, Delft, Eindhoven, and Vianen, employing approximately 90 professionals and generating around EUR 11 million in revenue in 2025.

Driss Aarab, Managing Director of XPartners Netherlands, highlights the strategic value of the acquisition: “We are continuing to build our platform in the Netherlands, and we are very pleased that CRUX has chosen to join us. Their deep specialist expertise, strong client relationships, and entrepreneurial spirit significantly enhance our Dutch operations and the wider group.”

CRUX Groep’s client base includes contractors, developers, public authorities, utility companies, insurers, and engineering firms. Their work spans the full project lifecycle—from initial feasibility studies assessing ground conditions to foundation design, construction monitoring, and post-construction damage analysis. Their expertise is particularly critical in dense urban environments where construction impacts on surrounding structures must be carefully managed.

Almer van der Stoel, co-founder and CEO of CRUX Groep, explains the benefits of joining XPartners: “XPartners provides a platform for accelerated growth. We will collaborate with companies facing similar challenges, expanding both the depth and breadth of our specialist services while maintaining our team and client relationships. Over time, our clients will gain access to a broader range of expertise within the group.”

This acquisition marks the third addition to XPartners’ Dutch portfolio in 2026, following the earlier integration of RYSE and Flux Partners. Aarab describes the approach as assembling a comprehensive service offering: “We want to cover every discipline and project phase—from early strategy and feasibility through realization and aftercare—across area development, infrastructure, energy, and buildings. CRUX fills a key gap in our capabilities, enabling more integrated solutions for clients.”

XPartners Group AB (publ) employs approximately 2,400 specialists across Europe, operating through around 90 entrepreneur-led companies. The group reported pro forma net sales of SEK 5 billion and is primarily employee-owned, with private equity support from Axcel.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The integration is expected to leverage synergies by cross-selling geotechnical and environmental services, enhancing digital offerings through CRUX’s software expertise, and optimizing operational efficiencies across Dutch offices.

Industry observers note that this move strengthens XPartners’ position in the competitive Dutch engineering market, where demand for integrated geotechnical and environmental solutions is growing amid urban development and infrastructure expansion. Competitors may respond with increased investment in technology and potential consolidation.

Looking ahead, XPartners plans to maintain CRUX’s entrepreneurial culture and specialist focus while aligning operational processes and IT systems. The group aims to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end engineering solutions that meet evolving client needs in the Netherlands and beyond.
