ELK Groep acquires Holding de Jager, enhancing its renovation and maintenance platform. Discover the strategic impact and future plans.

ELK Groep, one of the Netherlands’ largest providers of renovation, maintenance, and neighborhood transformation services backed by Waterland Private Equity, has acquired Holding de Jager, a multifaceted service provider in real estate maintenance. The acquisition, completed in early 2026, aims to strengthen ELK’s platform by integrating Holding de Jager’s complementary service portfolio and expanding its geographic reach.

While the financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, ELK Groep has acquired 100% ownership of Holding de Jager. The shareholders of Holding de Jager will remain actively involved, collaborating closely with ELK to continue the company’s growth trajectory.

Holding de Jager comprises several specialized subsidiaries, including De Jager Totaal, BCA Brandveilig, De Jongh Waardenburg, De Jager Service, Steigerbouw Midden Nederland, and Totaal Vloeren Betonherstel. Together, these entities offer a broad and complementary range of services such as painting, fire safety, flooring technology, scaffolding, and general real estate services. This diverse expertise positions Holding de Jager as a distinctive platform within the real estate maintenance sector.

Founded in 2000 by Wim van Elk in Wijchen, ELK Groep started as a regional painting business and has since evolved into one of the largest nationally operating service providers in renovation, maintenance, and neighborhood transformation in the Netherlands. ELK is backed by Waterland Private Equity, which has supported the company’s continued growth journey both organically and through strategic acquisitions of organisations sharing the same quality standards and mentality.

What sets ELK apart is the combination of technical excellence and social engagement. The group puts not only the bricks and mortar at the centre of its work, but the residents themselves — an approach that has resonated strongly with housing corporations and clients across the country. Today, ELK Groep operates 23 branches across the Netherlands and employs nearly 1,200 in-house craftsmen. The group positions itself as a leader in renovation, maintenance, and the transformation of neighbourhoods and utility properties, with a clear ambition to accelerate the transition toward sustainable and vital living environments.

The acquisition aligns with ELK Groep’s strategic goal to accelerate the transition toward sustainable and vital living environments. By integrating Holding de Jager’s specialized services, ELK expands its capacity to offer comprehensive, one-stop solutions for renovation and maintenance projects across residential and commercial real estate markets — strengthening its platform and broadening its geographic footprint in the Dutch real estate maintenance sector.

The deal is expected to generate synergies through cross-selling complementary services, optimizing procurement, and consolidating back-office functions. Operational integration will focus on standardizing processes and enhancing project management capabilities across the combined entities. However, ELK acknowledges challenges such as aligning corporate cultures and retaining key personnel during the integration phase.

Market analysts note that this acquisition strengthens ELK Groep’s competitive position by creating a larger, more diversified service provider with national reach. It also intensifies consolidation trends within the Dutch renovation and maintenance sector, potentially prompting competitors to pursue similar strategic moves.

Looking ahead, ELK Groep plans to leverage the expanded platform to bid for larger, integrated projects and drive innovation in neighborhood transformation. The company remains committed to balancing technical quality with social responsibility, aiming to deliver sustainable value for clients and communities alike.
