Belgian-based Dicar Group has completed the full acquisition of DE JONG Kampeer & Recreatie, a Dutch family-owned company specializing in camping and recreational products. The deal, announced on October 12, 2026, marks a significant expansion of Dicar Group’s presence in the Netherlands, positioning it as the market leader in the country’s caravan and motorhome retail sector.
DE JONG Kampeer & Recreatie, headquartered in Hillegom-De Zilk near Amsterdam, has been active in the camping industry for 55 years and employs approximately 50 people. The family business, led by brothers Hans and Harry de Jong, sought a successor due to the absence of familial succession. The Dicar Group, also family-run, was identified as a suitable partner to secure the company’s future. The de Jong brothers will remain involved in the business following the acquisition.
While the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the acquisition involves a 100% stake in DE JONG Kampeer & Recreatie. This follows Dicar Group’s earlier expansion in the Netherlands with the 2025 acquisition of Campolife in Heinenoord, near Rotterdam. The addition of DE JONG adds a strategic location near Amsterdam to Dicar’s growing Dutch network.
CEO Dirk Van Eyck of Dicar Group highlights the strategic importance of the deal: “With DE JONG, we significantly strengthen our position in the Dutch motorhome and caravan market. This acquisition makes us the market leader in the Netherlands and further consolidates our leadership in the Benelux region.”
The acquisition offers several operational advantages. DE JONG’s established customer base and experienced team will continue to serve Dutch clients, while the combined inventory across locations is expected to reduce wait times for customers in a sector where demand often exceeds supply. The integration also enables Dicar to leverage economies of scale in procurement and logistics, enhancing efficiency.
For Belgian customers, the deal expands Dicar’s product portfolio to approximately 35 brands, broadening choice and strengthening the group’s negotiating position with manufacturers. The acquisition aligns with Dicar’s broader strategy of scaling operations and reinforcing its market position across the Benelux.
Industry experts note that the outdoor recreation retail market is evolving rapidly, with increasing consumer demand for diverse and high-quality camping products. Dicar’s move to consolidate market share through acquisitions reflects a wider trend of consolidation in the sector, which may prompt competitors to pursue similar strategies or innovate to maintain market relevance.
Challenges remain in integrating the two family-owned businesses, particularly aligning corporate cultures and IT systems without disrupting customer service. Retaining key personnel and maintaining strong customer relationships will be critical to realizing the anticipated synergies.
Looking ahead, Dicar Group plans to fully integrate DE JONG’s operations while preserving its local identity and expertise. The group expects the acquisition to drive revenue growth through cross-selling opportunities and operational efficiencies, reinforcing its leadership in the Benelux outdoor recreation market.
