CERTANIA Gruppe acquires Van Santen Advies, expanding asbestos and hazardous substance compliance services in the Netherlands. Learn more about the deal.
CERTANIA Gruppe, a Munich-based global provider of Testing, Inspection, Certification & Compliance (TIC) services backed by GREENPEAK Partners and Summit Partners, has acquired Van Santen Advies, a Netherlands-headquartered specialist in asbestos and hazardous substances compliance as well as building inspections. The acquisition, announced on June 9, 2026, expands CERTANIA’s Buildings & Infrastructure portfolio in the Dutch market.
Van Santen Advies, founded in 2013 and based in Delft, operates through three entities: Van Santen Advies B.V., Van Santen Projecten B.V., and Van Santen Inspectie B.V. The company supports real estate owners, housing associations, and project developers with regulatory compliance, risk assessments, and documentation related to hazardous substances such as asbestos and Chrom-VI. Its services span consulting, project management for remediation and demolition projects, and inspections including moisture, mold, leak detection, and drying technologies.
The acquisition aims to create a coordinated service offering in the Netherlands by integrating Van Santen’s expertise with CERTANIA’s existing SGI Compliance unit. This collaboration will provide clients with comprehensive hazardous substance compliance and building inspection solutions from planning through documentation.
Moritz Gruber, CEO of CERTANIA, states, “As a globally active TIC provider, CERTANIA continuously develops its service portfolio. With Van Santen, we strengthen our presence in the Netherlands within the Buildings & Infrastructure segment, particularly in hazardous substance compliance and building inspections, to reliably support clients across disciplines.” Cock van Santen, Managing Director of Van Santen Advies, adds, “Clients require swift clarity and robust documentation regarding hazardous substances in existing buildings. Together with CERTANIA, we can deliver consistent nationwide services, especially for housing associations and public sector clients.” Mark Verbrugge, also Managing Director at Van Santen Advies, highlights the complementary nature of their services: “By combining hazardous substance compliance with recurring building inspections such as moisture and mold detection, clients gain a complete and timely overview to make informed decisions about their building portfolios.”
The deal value was not disclosed. No financial advisors or investment banks were reported to be involved. The integration will focus on operational synergies, including shared administrative functions with SGI Compliance and standardized methodologies to improve project management efficiency and client experience.
Industry trends show increasing regulatory scrutiny on hazardous substances in buildings and a growing demand for integrated compliance and inspection services. CERTANIA’s acquisition of Van Santen positions the group to capitalize on these trends by offering end-to-end solutions in the Dutch market, which is expected to accelerate consolidation among TIC providers.
Looking ahead, CERTANIA plans to leverage Van Santen’s established client relationships and expertise to cross-sell services and pursue larger, complex projects. The integration will require aligning operational processes and maintaining service quality to avoid client attrition during the transition.
This acquisition marks another step in CERTANIA’s international expansion and diversification of its Buildings & Infrastructure segment, reinforcing its commitment to delivering comprehensive compliance and inspection services across Europe.
