Unique Growers Company acquires AMIGRA, enhancing its market position in the ornamental grass sector. Learn more about this strategic move.
Unique Growers Company is set to acquire AMIGRA, a prominent grower of ornamental grasses, with the transaction announced on February 20, 2026 and effective January 1, 2026. Under the terms of the agreement, AMIGRA will continue to operate under its own name, preserving its culture and identity while gaining access to the extensive resources and support offered by Unique Growers Company.
This acquisition is part of Unique Growers Company’s strategy to strengthen its platform, which facilitates collaboration among growers on overarching themes. By pooling resources, sharing knowledge, and responding collectively to market developments, the companies aim to achieve sustainable growth while maintaining their individual operations.
AMIGRA will be jointly managed by Edwin van der Knaap and Martijn Vreugdenhil following the acquisition. Van der Knaap, who has served as AMIGRA’s director, will lead the company alongside Vreugdenhil, who previously held the position of General Sales Manager. Van der Knaap commented, “With this step, we integrate our organization into Unique Growers Company and gain access to staff services that support AMIGRA’s further development. At the same time, the long-term continuity of AMIGRA is better secured.”
From the perspective of Unique Growers Company, the addition of AMIGRA is viewed as a significant enhancement to its platform. “The inclusion of AMIGRA’s locations, products, and organization enables us to realize our growth ambitions further. It is a strong company with sustainable products, strategically located relative to other businesses within the platform,” said a spokesperson from Unique Growers Company.
For AMIGRA’s employees, daily operations will largely remain unchanged. The company will continue to operate under its established name and maintain its familiar working methods. This integration is expected to foster additional opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration among employees. Existing customer relationships, agreements, and collaborations will also remain intact.
Upon completion of the acquisition, Unique Growers Company will comprise SV.CO, Vilosa, LV Plant, Kwekerij Vreugdenberg, and AMIGRA, collectively managing 40 hectares and employing 250 staff members. The platform focuses on pot plants and vegetable cultivation.
As the integration process unfolds, both companies are optimistic about the potential for enhanced operational efficiencies and market expansion. The acquisition is anticipated to strengthen Unique Growers’ position in the ornamental grass segment, with opportunities for cross-selling and the development of new sustainable product lines.
