Van Moer Logistics Acquires Ziegler Belgium Air Freight Division

Van Moer Logistics expands forwarding services by acquiring Ziegler Belgium's air freight division, enhancing multimodal logistics capabilities.

Van Moer Logistics has acquired the air freight division of Ziegler Belgium, marking a significant expansion of its forwarding services. The transaction, announced on June 1, 2026, integrates Ziegler’s certified IATA freight forwarding operations at Brussels Airport into Van Moer’s existing logistics platform.

The deal value has not been disclosed. Van Moer Logistics will continue all air freight activities under its management, ensuring a seamless transition and uninterrupted service for customers. This acquisition adds air freight to Van Moer’s comprehensive logistics offering, which already includes road, rail, inland waterways, and sea freight transport.

Founded over 35 years ago, Van Moer Logistics has grown into a major logistics group with more than 2,200 employees, operating 500 trucks, 15 inland vessels, and managing 850,000 square meters of warehouse space across more than 40 locations in Belgium. The company’s vision, branded as “The Perfect Flow,” focuses on delivering integrated and efficient logistics solutions tailored to customer needs.

Ziegler Belgium’s air freight division is a recognized player in the international air freight sector, operating as a certified IATA freight forwarder at Brussels Airport. Its expertise and established client relationships complement Van Moer’s existing forwarding services, enabling the combined entity to offer fully integrated multimodal transport solutions.

According to Van Moer Logistics, the acquisition supports its strategic ambition to expand forwarding activities and enhance its ability to manage international goods flows. By incorporating air freight capabilities, Van Moer aims to provide customers with a single partner for end-to-end logistics, from warehousing and distribution to multimodal transport and forwarding.

The integration is expected to generate synergies by cross-selling multimodal services to existing clients, optimizing operational efficiencies, and improving supply chain visibility. Van Moer also anticipates cost savings through consolidation of forwarding operations and enhanced bargaining power with airlines and suppliers.

Industry observers note that this acquisition strengthens Van Moer’s position in the Belgian air freight forwarding market and accelerates consolidation trends within the logistics sector. Competitors may respond with similar acquisitions or investments in technology to maintain market share.

Challenges remain in aligning operational processes and IT systems, retaining key personnel, and managing cultural integration. Van Moer has emphasized its commitment to building sustainable partnerships by staying close to customers and continuously improving logistics solutions.

Looking ahead, Van Moer Logistics plans to leverage this acquisition to further develop its integrated logistics platform and support international companies in optimizing their supply chains. The addition of air freight services represents a strategic step toward becoming a comprehensive one-stop-shop logistics partner.
