Office IT, a regional IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Sneek, Netherlands, has acquired Freez.it, an ICT service provider located in Bolsward. This acquisition is part of the Smizer MSP buy-and-build platform, supported by investment company Riverdam, aiming to consolidate and expand managed IT services in the Northern Netherlands.
The deal involves a full acquisition of Freez.it, which will be integrated into Office IT’s operations. While financial terms were not disclosed, the transaction strengthens the combined entity’s capacity to serve small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Friesland and nearby regions. The integration is expected to enhance service availability, broaden the service portfolio, and increase specialist expertise.
Office IT employs approximately 30 staff and operates primarily in the Northern Netherlands, delivering reliable IT solutions focused on modern workplaces, connectivity, and cybersecurity. Freez.it shares a similar customer-centric culture, emphasizing personal service, flexibility, and quality. The acquisition aligns with Smizer’s broader growth strategy of building a network of regional MSPs to meet rising demand for digital transformation solutions.
Smizer, the MSP platform created by Riverdam, now encompasses 16 locations across the Netherlands, including cities such as Den Bosch, Sneek, Eindhoven, and Zwolle. The platform offers cloud-based IT solutions that enable SMBs and non-profit organizations to work securely and efficiently from any location.
According to Derk van Wingerden, co-founder of Riverdam, “The Dutch IT market is a key growth area driven by ongoing digital transformation. Our investment in Smizer and its regional MSPs positions us to capitalize on this accelerating demand.” Office IT’s directors, Nick Betgem and Berber Woudstra, noted that adding Freez.it enhances local presence and expertise, enabling them to deliver greater value to customers both now and in the future.
The acquisition creates operational synergies through shared resources, economies of scale in tooling and specialist knowledge, and streamlined communication processes. It also strengthens the competitive position of Smizer’s MSP network in the Northern Netherlands SMB segment, where demand for modern IT services continues to grow.
Challenges ahead include aligning company cultures, integrating IT systems, and retaining key talent to ensure continuity of service. However, the combined entity aims to leverage its expanded capabilities to improve customer retention and capture new market opportunities.
Looking forward, Office IT and Smizer plan to continue their buy-and-build strategy, further consolidating regional MSPs to offer flexible, secure, and innovative IT solutions tailored to SMBs. This acquisition marks a significant step in reinforcing their footprint in Friesland and the broader Northern Netherlands region.
