Junction Growth Investors announces a minority investment in Wiels, a Belgian consultancy focused on environmental, safety, and spatial planning advisory services. The partnership, finalized in late 2026, is designed to support Wiels’ next phase of growth by building on its established market position, experienced team, and longstanding client relationships.
While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the investment reflects Junction’s commitment to backing companies that contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Wiels, founded in 1992, employs approximately 40 specialists across offices in Zwevegem and Ghent. The company advises clients on a broad range of environmental and permitting matters, including soil, water, energy, safety, and spatial planning, often acting as an external environmental coordinator.
Wiels’ services integrate environmental advisory with spatial planning and permitting, including environmental impact assessments where these disciplines intersect. This multidisciplinary approach positions Wiels as a trusted long-term partner for companies navigating increasingly complex environmental regulations related to water management, resource scarcity, and climate adaptation.
Junction Growth Investors highlights the strategic rationale behind the investment: supporting business growth while advancing environmental objectives. “Wiels operates at an important intersection between economic growth and environmental progress, helping customers invest and develop their activities while navigating increasingly complex and important environmental requirements,” a Junction spokesperson said. “We see significant potential to build further on what Wiels has created and are very much looking forward to working with co-CEOs Danny and Anneke, as well as the wider team.”
Wiels’ management team will continue to lead the company, with co-CEOs Danny Wiels and Anneke Vanhoorelbeke maintaining significant ownership stakes. Anneke Vanhoorelbeke is investing alongside Junction, ensuring continuity and alignment of interests. Junction will support Wiels as a shareholder and board member, providing resources and expertise to facilitate growth.
The partnership aims to capitalize on growing demand for specialist advisory services as permitting processes become more multidisciplinary and involve a broader range of stakeholders. Wiels plans to deepen its expertise and selectively expand its capabilities, supported by investments in digitalization and artificial intelligence. These technologies will leverage Wiels’ extensive knowledge base, enabling experts to focus on complex advice and client interaction.
Junction Growth Investors, founded in 2022, manages an Article 9 fund under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) with €115 million in assets under management. Its portfolio focuses on European SMEs and scale-ups active in climate change mitigation and adaptation. Wiels represents Junction’s tenth investment platform, complementing its existing portfolio companies that contribute to energy transition and environmental sustainability.
The environmental consulting sector is experiencing increased regulatory complexity, driving demand for integrated advisory services that combine environmental, safety, and spatial planning expertise. Wiels’ strengthened position through this partnership is expected to enhance its ability to serve clients facing challenges such as water scarcity, resource management, and climate adaptation.
Looking ahead, Wiels and Junction plan to pursue both organic growth and selective strategic expansion. The partnership will focus on maintaining Wiels’ client-centric culture while optimizing operational processes and multidisciplinary coordination. Regulatory approvals are not expected to pose significant hurdles given the nature of the investment.
This collaboration positions Wiels to meet evolving market demands and regulatory challenges, reinforcing its role as a trusted advisor in Belgium’s environmental consultancy landscape. Junction’s support is expected to accelerate Wiels’ growth trajectory while advancing sustainable development objectives.
