BlueMill announced on October 27, 2026, that it has acquired a stake in Distrilight, a leading lighting specialist operating across the Netherlands and Belgium. The investment aims to support Distrilight’s international expansion and further development of its integrated lighting solutions.
Founded in 2019 by Fatih Ü. and Mohamed Abdilaahi, Distrilight has grown rapidly to employ around 60 staff and serve approximately 2,500 installation companies. The company distinguishes itself through a unique 3-in-1 business model, combining manufacturing under proprietary brands Pragmalux and InstalinQ, wholesale distribution, and project lighting services. Its in-house R&D, engineering, and assembly capabilities in Eindhoven enable fast innovation and tailored solutions.
BlueMill’s acquisition aligns with its strategy of investing in healthy, founder-led companies. The founders remain shareholders and continue to lead daily operations, ensuring continuity. BlueMill plans to leverage its capital and network to accelerate Distrilight’s growth beyond the Benelux region and strengthen its position as a platform for integrated lighting solutions.
“We are proud to partner with Fatih and Mohamed, who have built a remarkable company in a short time,” said a BlueMill spokesperson. “Together, we will enhance the formula, expand internationally, and drive innovation in sustainable lighting.”
The lighting market is evolving rapidly with increasing demand for sustainable products, complex regulations, and integrated systems such as sensors and smart controls. Distrilight’s combination of manufacturing, wholesale, and project expertise positions it well to meet these challenges and support installers comprehensively.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Rabobank acted as financial advisor, VRIMAN provided legal counsel, and Alvarez & Marsal conducted financial due diligence. Aeternus BV advised the founders throughout the process.
Strategically, the partnership offers multiple synergies: cross-selling integrated lighting solutions across BlueMill’s portfolio, shared procurement efficiencies, consolidated R&D efforts, and streamlined project management. The combined expertise is expected to accelerate product innovation, particularly in smart lighting and sensor integration.
Looking ahead, BlueMill and Distrilight plan to maintain the company’s entrepreneurial culture while scaling operations internationally. Key challenges include managing cross-border expansion and integrating R&D and manufacturing without compromising agility.
This investment strengthens BlueMill’s footprint in the integrated lighting market and signals accelerating consolidation in the sector. Competitors may face increased pressure as Distrilight leverages enhanced resources to expand its sustainable and compliant lighting offerings.
BlueMill and Distrilight’s collaboration marks a significant step toward building a broader platform for integrated lighting solutions, combining technical expertise with strong installer relationships across Europe.
