Nijhof-Wassink, a family-owned transport and logistics company based in Rijssen, Netherlands, is set to acquire Haveman Transport, a regional transport operator specializing in animal feed products, effective July 1, 2026. This acquisition formalizes a collaboration that began in 2015, aiming to strengthen service continuity and operational efficiency for customers, employees, and partners.

The terms of the deal, including financial details, have not been disclosed. The acquisition involves a full takeover of Haveman Transport’s operations, including its experienced workforce and vehicle fleet. Jan Haveman, co-director of Haveman Transport, along with the company’s drivers, will transition to Nijhof-Wassink as part of the integration.

Haveman Transport, based in Uffelte, has established itself as a reliable regional carrier with a strong focus on quality and employee involvement. Its specialization in transporting animal feed products complements Nijhof-Wassink’s existing logistics services. Nijhof-Wassink operates across multiple logistics sectors, including chemical, dry bulk, and feed logistics, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

According to Anriët Haveman, director of Haveman Transport, the acquisition offers long-term security for employees and customers amid challenges such as evolving regulations and the energy transition impacting the transport sector. “We want to provide our employees with long-term certainty at a company that values its people,” she said.

Bertil Bouwhuis, managing director of Nijhof-Wassink, welcomed the Haveman team, emphasizing the operational synergies the acquisition brings. “Our planners already work closely with Haveman’s drivers daily. This acquisition enhances our flexibility and capacity, supported by an experienced driver team and a robust fleet,” Bouwhuis stated.

The deal is expected to improve fleet utilization, streamline route planning, and consolidate administrative functions, generating cost efficiencies and service enhancements. By combining their expertise and resources, the companies aim to secure long-term customer contracts and expand their regional market presence in the animal feed transport sector.

Industry trends show increasing consolidation in logistics, driven by regulatory pressures and the need for sustainable operations. Nijhof-Wassink’s acquisition of Haveman Transport aligns with this trend, positioning the company to better navigate evolving market demands and competitive pressures.

Looking ahead, Nijhof-Wassink plans a smooth integration process focused on retaining key personnel and maintaining service quality. The companies will work to align their corporate cultures and comply with regulatory requirements, particularly those related to environmental standards and energy transition.

This acquisition marks a strategic step for Nijhof-Wassink to reinforce its regional leadership in transport logistics, particularly in the agribusiness supply chain. The combined entity is poised to deliver enhanced reliability and continuity for customers while supporting sustainable growth.
