XPartners Group AB acquires VIAM Norge AS, boosting technical project management and ITB services in Norway. Read about the strategic deal and market impact.
XPartners Group AB, backed by Axcel, has announced the acquisition of VIAM Norge AS, a Norwegian technical consulting firm based in Kjellstad near Drammen. The deal, announced on April 8, 2026, and the second acquisition in one week, enhances XPartners’ capabilities in technical project management and integrated technical building (ITB) services within Norway.
While the financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, VIAM reported revenues of more than NOK 25 million in 2025. The acquisition integrates VIAM’s specialist expertise in procurement, contracts, project support, commissioning follow-up, and energy management into XPartners’ Norwegian platform.
Founded in 2021, VIAM Norge AS offers a broad range of technical consulting services including technical project management, ITB, design management, energy certification, and due diligence. The company focuses on creating structure and coordination in technically demanding projects, supporting clients through planning, procurement, and technical construction management.
XPartners Group AB is a European engineering and design consulting group comprising over 70 entrepreneur-led companies and more than 2,000 specialists. The group advises clients across infrastructure, buildings, energy, and environmental sectors, generating pro forma annual revenues exceeding SEK 4 billion. XPartners is primarily employee-owned with backing from private equity firm Axcel.
Christian Nørgaard Madsen, Managing Director of XPartners Norway, stated, “VIAM adds specialist expertise that fits well with the continued development of our Norwegian platform. The company has a strong offering within technical project management and ITB, complemented by services that broaden the group’s capabilities in Norway.”
Rune Gulbrandsen, co-founder of VIAM, commented, “Becoming part of XPartners marks an exciting new chapter for VIAM. We look forward to continuing to develop our business as part of a broader group of specialist companies and to contributing with our expertise in technical project management and ITB.”
The acquisition is expected to create synergies by expanding XPartners’ service portfolio and enhancing project delivery capabilities. VIAM’s expertise will enable cross-selling of technical advisory and project support services to existing clients and support winning larger, more complex contracts. Operational efficiencies are anticipated through the consolidation of back-office functions and standardization of project management methodologies.
Market analysts note that this move strengthens XPartners’ position in the Norwegian technical consulting market, particularly in the Kjellstad and Drammen regions. The deal also reflects broader industry trends of consolidation and increased demand for integrated project management and technical advisory services.
Integration challenges include aligning organizational cultures, integrating IT systems, and retaining key VIAM personnel to maintain client relationships during the transition. However, the combined entity aims to leverage shared technology platforms and streamlined procurement processes to enhance competitiveness.
Looking ahead, XPartners plans to fully integrate VIAM’s operations into its Norwegian platform, subject to regulatory approvals. The acquisition positions XPartners to capitalize on growing demand for specialized technical consulting services and to accelerate growth in the Nordic region.
