De Goudse has acquired Zevenwouden, enhancing its market position in Northern Netherlands. The deal is pending regulatory approval.
De Goudse Verzekeringen is strengthening its position in the Northern Netherlands through the acquisition of the insurance portfolio of AFOS Zevenwouden U.A., including managing general agent Noorderlinge Verzekeraars. Subject to approval from regulators, including De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and the Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM), the businesses will continue under the name De Noorderlinge as part of De Goudse. While the name will change, the identity, regional focus, and office location in Leeuwarden will remain the same.
Through this transaction, De Goudse increases its share in the non-life insurance market and further reinforces its footprint in the northern region. From its new position within the group, De Noorderlinge will focus on retaining and growing its private non-life portfolio and rolling out a dedicated SME proposition for Northern Netherlands. In the longer term, the company also aims to develop its own niche propositions.
De Goudse believes in the strength of regional labels, which are experienced by the market as familiar and close to customers. The two organizations also share a clear commitment to sustainable cooperation with independent advisers. For existing customers and partners, nothing will change apart from the name, and they can continue to rely on the same personal and engaged service.
For Zevenwouden, the acquisition represents a logical next step. Wiebo Nauta, Chairman of the Management Board, commented: “As a regional player, we want to continue developing products and services that our customers and advisers expect from us. Together with De Goudse, we now have the strength required to do so.” Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
