GEOS Laboratories acquires Concrefy’s ISO 17025-accredited lab in the Netherlands, enhancing construction material testing and expanding West European presence.
GEOS Laboratories, a Belgian independent group specializing in construction material testing, has finalized the acquisition of Concrefy’s laboratory and consultancy operations based in Venlo, Netherlands from its parent company Umdasch Group Ventures. The deal was announced on July 17, 2026. This move represents GEOS’s first operational laboratory presence in the Dutch market, complementing its existing commercial activities in the country and advancing its West European growth strategy.
The acquisition includes the full transfer of Concrefy’s laboratory services, which are ISO 17025-accredited, ensuring high standards of testing quality and reliability. Concrefy specializes in testing concrete, metal, and other construction materials, with a notable expertise in concrete reinforcement steel testing—a service that GEOS did not previously offer. The deal value was not disclosed.
Concrefy employs approximately 30 staff members and serves clients both within the Netherlands and internationally, primarily in the construction and infrastructure sectors. Formerly part of the Umdasch Group, Concrefy will continue to operate under its own name as “Concrefy, part of GEOS Laboratories,” maintaining client relationships and operational continuity without interruption.
GEOS Laboratories, led by CEO and owner Jan Soers, operates accredited laboratories in Belgium with a mission to provide fast, reliable testing of construction materials to support sustainable and safe infrastructure. The acquisition aligns with GEOS’s ambition to become the leading independent laboratory group in West Europe, targeting active operations in five strategic countries by 2030.
Jan Soers commented, “With Concrefy joining us, GEOS takes a significant step toward becoming a truly European independent laboratory group. We share the conviction that independence and quality form the foundation of trust between laboratory and client. By combining our strengths, we can better serve our customers and accelerate investments in digitalizing the testing process.”
The acquisition enhances GEOS’s service portfolio by adding concrete reinforcement steel testing, expanding its capabilities beyond its existing offerings. It also provides access to Concrefy’s established Dutch and international customer base, enabling cross-selling opportunities and strengthening market position.
From an operational perspective, the integration is expected to yield efficiencies through shared administrative functions and consolidated procurement. Both companies plan to leverage digital testing technologies to improve speed and reliability, while maintaining Concrefy’s ISO 17025 accreditation to uphold quality standards.
The construction materials testing sector in West Europe is experiencing consolidation, with independent laboratories expanding their geographic reach and service offerings to meet growing demand for reliable, sustainable infrastructure solutions. GEOS’s acquisition of Concrefy intensifies competitive pressure in the region, prompting peers to consider similar strategic moves and investments in digital capabilities.
Looking ahead, GEOS aims to smoothly integrate Concrefy’s operations while preserving its brand identity and client relationships. The group plans to continue investing in digital transformation initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and customer satisfaction across its expanded network.
This acquisition marks a key milestone in GEOS Laboratories’ strategic roadmap to broaden its footprint and service range in West Europe, reinforcing its commitment to quality and sustainability in construction material testing.
