d-Matrix acquires GigaIO's data center business to enhance AI inference platform with advanced rack-scale interconnect technology. Learn more about the deal.

d-Matrix, a leader in low-latency AI inference compute for data centers, has announced the acquisition of GigaIO‘s data center business on April 2 2026. GigaIO is a systems engineering firm specializing in rack-scale infrastructure and high-performance interconnects. The deal, announced in early 2026, builds on a collaboration that began in 2025 and aims to deepen d-Matrix’s capabilities in system-level AI inference infrastructure.

While the financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the transaction includes GigaIO’s core data center technologies such as SuperNODE and the FabreX PCIe-based memory fabric. Additionally, d-Matrix acquires the associated engineering team based in Carlsbad, California, establishing a new engineering hub in Southern California and expanding its global footprint to six innovation centers across North America, Europe, and Asia.

d-Matrix develops accelerated computing solutions for AI inference, focusing on reducing latency, cost, and energy consumption at data center scale. Its product portfolio includes Corsair inference accelerators, JetStream networking, Aviator software, and the SquadRack rack-scale reference architecture, developed in partnership with Broadcom and Arista. GigaIO’s expertise in rack-scale interconnects complements these offerings by enabling efficient data movement across CPUs, GPUs, and inference accelerators distributed throughout data centers.

Sid Sheth, founder and CEO of d-Matrix, emphasizes the strategic importance of the acquisition: “Inference is bigger than any one chip. It’s now a systems problem. To keep up with surging AI demand, frontier labs and other power users are dividing workloads into smaller tasks, disaggregated across CPUs, GPUs, and inference accelerators, with each processor handling a different part of the problem. That means data must move efficiently across chips, nodes, racks, and entire data centers in real time. This acquisition accelerates our ability to deliver infrastructure built for this new reality, where low latency, efficiency, and scale all matter at once.”

The acquisition enhances d-Matrix’s system-level integration capabilities, enabling faster time-to-market and improved coordination across hardware, networking, and software stacks. By incorporating GigaIO’s SuperNODE and FabreX memory fabric into its AI inference platform, d-Matrix aims to address latency and scalability challenges faced by frontier AI labs and large data centers adopting disaggregated compute architectures.

Industry analysts note that this move strengthens d-Matrix’s position in the competitive AI inference compute market by offering a more comprehensive, integrated solution. The acquisition also signals accelerating consolidation in the AI infrastructure sector, with competitors likely to respond through similar partnerships or acquisitions to build system-level capabilities.

Looking ahead, d-Matrix plans to integrate the new technologies and engineering team while managing potential challenges such as aligning engineering cultures and ensuring seamless hardware-software integration. The company’s expanded presence in Southern California will support ongoing innovation and product development.

Overall, the acquisition positions d-Matrix to capture growing demand for low-latency, high-throughput AI inference solutions, reinforcing its commitment to delivering sustainable and scalable AI infrastructure worldwide.
