CPIhealth, a prominent interventional pain management platform headquartered in Austin, Texas, backed by Iron Path Capital, announces the acquisition of Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists (M.I.S.S.) and Serenity Surgical Center. The transaction, announced on April 14, 2026, adds two clinics and an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) located in northwest Indiana, near the Chicago metropolitan area, to CPIhealth’s growing network.

The acquisition brings five physicians and two nurse practitioners into CPIhealth’s platform, significantly enhancing its clinical capabilities and geographic reach. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the strategic expansion strengthens CPIhealth’s presence in Indiana and neighboring Illinois, positioning the company to serve a larger patient population with advanced interventional pain management services.

Founded in 2007 by Dr. Matthew Schocket, CPIhealth operates clinics and ASCs across six states, including Texas, Ohio, Kentucky, Colorado, Minnesota, and Indiana. The company specializes in chronic pain treatment using advanced procedures such as spinal cord stimulator implants, intradiscal interventions, and percutaneous disc decompression. CPIhealth partners with physicians who share its commitment to high-quality, compassionate care and evidence-based medicine.

Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists has provided chronic pain management and spine care for over 20 years from its locations in Munster and Chesterton, Indiana. Its comprehensive service offerings include spinal cord stimulation, injections, and non-surgical spine care. Serenity Surgical Center complements these services by providing ambulatory surgical capabilities, enabling higher-margin procedural treatments within the expanded platform.

Dr. Schocket emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition, stating, “This is another milestone for CPIhealth’s mission to expand into new markets and will allow us to provide advanced pain treatments and comprehensive care to additional patients.” He also highlighted the alignment with M.I.S.S. physicians Dr. Shaun Kondamuri and Dr. Satish Dasari, noting their shared philosophy on utilizing advanced techniques to treat chronic pain.

From a market perspective, this acquisition enhances CPIhealth’s competitive positioning in the interventional pain management sector around the Chicago area. The deal supports revenue synergies through cross-selling advanced treatments and expanding patient access, while operational efficiencies are expected from consolidating administrative functions and integrating clinical protocols across sites.

Iron Path Capital, the private equity firm backing CPIhealth, focuses on growing healthcare companies with scalable business models and multiple growth vectors. The firm provides capital and operational expertise to support CPIhealth’s expansion strategy.

Looking ahead, CPIhealth plans to integrate the new clinics and ASC into its existing network, aligning clinical practices and operational workflows to maintain high-quality patient care. The company will also focus on retaining key medical staff and ensuring continuity for patients during the transition.

As the interventional pain management market continues to consolidate, CPIhealth’s acquisition of M.I.S.S. and Serenity Surgical Center exemplifies the trend of regional platform expansion to capture growing demand for advanced pain treatments. The company’s enhanced footprint and service offerings position it well for future growth in this competitive sector.
