Beiersdorf has announced the launch of its second-generation Skin Care Innovation Fund, committing €100 million to accelerate innovation across its core skin care business. The new fund doubles the size of its predecessor, launched in 2020, and underscores the company’s ambition to strengthen its position as a global leader in science-based skin care innovation.

Through Beiersdorf Venture Capital, the fund will invest globally in early- to growth-stage companies, with initial ticket sizes typically ranging from €0.5 million to €5 million. Investment focus areas include life sciences and biotechnology, sustainability, AI-enabled technologies, and digital health solutions—fields increasingly shaping the future of skin care.

The initiative reflects Beiersdorf’s strategy of combining its extensive in-house R&D expertise with external innovation from startups. By fostering strategic collaborations alongside capital investments, the company aims to translate cutting-edge scientific developments into scalable, consumer-facing skin care solutions.

Since launching its venture capital activities in 2020, Beiersdorf has built a portfolio of more than 15 companies across its core focus areas. Notable successes include S-Biomedic, whose microbiome technology was integrated into Beiersdorf’s innovation pipeline and ultimately acquired, as well as investments in longevity science and sustainable materials through companies such as Vincere Biosciences, Turbine, DePoly, and Melt&Marble.

With the new fund, Beiersdorf is deepening its engagement with the global innovation ecosystem, aiming to identify and scale transformative technologies while reinforcing its long-term growth strategy. The initiative highlights the company’s commitment to leveraging venture capital as a key driver of innovation, sustainability, and competitive advantage in the evolving skin care market.
