Advania acquires Cortex Consult to strengthen managed IT services and cloud capabilities in Denmark. Read about the strategic Nordic expansion.
Advania, a leading Northern European IT services provider backed by the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs and VIA Equity, has acquired Cortex Consult A/S, a Danish IT consultancy specialising in managed services, infrastructure, and cloud solutions. The acquisition, announced on May 13, 2026, represents a significant step in Advania’s strategy to deepen its presence in the Danish market and enhance its managed services portfolio across the Nordics.
Cortex Consult, founded in 1998, has established a strong reputation for reliable IT operations and long-term customer partnerships, particularly within the pharmaceutical sector. The company primarily serves mid-sized businesses and select larger clients across both private and public sectors. A substantial portion of Cortex’s revenue derives from recurring, long-term engagements.
Through this acquisition, Advania integrates Cortex’s experienced team and established client relationships into its existing Danish operations. The combined entity will offer a more comprehensive and integrated suite of IT services, including infrastructure management, cloud computing, storage, and backup solutions. This expansion aims to support customers navigating increasingly complex technology environments, including the growing adoption of artificial intelligence.
Henrik Foyn-Laukvik, Head of M&A at Advania, emphasizes the strategic importance of the deal: “Cortex strengthens our position in a key market and adds capabilities and customer relationships that fit well with our long-term direction.” Siggi Thorsteinsson, CEO of Advania Denmark, adds, “Customers can expect continuity in both service and relationships, with the same teams and the same high level of service, while also gaining access to a broader set of capabilities as part of Advania.”
Advania operates across seven Northern European markets, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the UK, and Ireland. The company focuses on supporting mid-market enterprises and public sector organizations with complex IT needs, offering vendor-neutral advisory, implementation, managed services, and continuous improvement. With approximately 5,000 employees, Advania combines local decision-making with shared expertise and scale.
Cortex Consult brings over 25 years of experience in delivering managed IT services, infrastructure, and cloud-based solutions. The company is known for its tailored approach, close collaboration, and focus on long-term customer relationships. Its team supports clients in data protection, infrastructure modernization, and business process automation.
The acquisition is expected to generate synergies by cross-selling Advania’s broader IT portfolio to Cortex’s client base and expanding cloud and digital transformation offerings. Operational efficiencies will arise from consolidating administrative functions and leveraging economies of scale in procurement and technology infrastructure. Integration will focus on aligning Cortex’s cloud consultancy capabilities with Advania’s managed services to streamline project delivery across Nordic markets.
Industry observers note that this deal strengthens Advania’s competitive position in Denmark and accelerates consolidation in the Nordic IT consultancy sector. Competitors may respond with similar acquisitions and increased investment in cloud and digital transformation services.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval. Integration challenges include aligning corporate cultures, IT systems, and retaining key Cortex personnel during the transition.
Looking ahead, Advania aims to leverage this acquisition to accelerate revenue growth, enhance its service offerings, and drive innovation in cloud and digital transformation solutions across the Nordic region.
