HID Global, a leader in trusted identity solutions headquartered in Austin, Texas, has completed the acquisition of inepro ID, a Dutch company specializing in credential-agnostic RFID and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) authentication technologies. The deal, announced in November 2026, strengthens HID’s Identification Technologies Business Area by integrating inepro ID’s product portfolio, including embedded and portable readers, software, and professional services.

inepro ID, founded in the 1990s, focuses on innovative authentication solutions primarily used in secure cloud printing, document flow control, smart locker management, micropayment, and user activity registration. Its products are widely deployed across Europe, with a growing footprint in North and Latin America.

The acquisition adds inepro ID’s Spider reader family to HID’s OMNIKEY portfolio, enhancing HID’s capabilities in secure print and shared device authentication. These readers support a variety of credential technologies, enabling seamless user authentication at printers, lockers, workstations, digital boards, and cash registers.

“Customers want an identity experience that is part of a larger ecosystem, including interactions from the door to the printer, the locker, the workstation and beyond,” said a HID spokesperson. “inepro ID strengthens our ecosystem with their expertise in secure print. We look forward to welcoming the team to the HID family, and together we will further extend trusted identities to how people work every day.”

The deal positions HID to accelerate growth in secure print and facility management use cases by leveraging inepro ID’s proven technology and market expertise alongside HID’s global sales, engineering, and operational resources. The combined offering aims to address rising demand for RFID-based secure print solutions driven by stronger security requirements and the shift toward shared, flexible workspaces.

HID operates globally with over 4,500 employees and supports customers in more than 100 countries. Its trusted identity solutions serve governments, educational institutions, hospitals, financial institutions, and industrial businesses. The integration of inepro ID’s credential-agnostic readers and software is expected to enhance HID’s ability to deliver comprehensive identity ecosystems spanning doors, printers, lockers, and workstations.

inepro ID’s leadership expressed optimism about the acquisition, highlighting the opportunity to scale their technology on a global platform. “With the Spider reader family, our team has built a strong foundation for smart, reliable and credential-agnostic identification,” said an inepro ID representative. “Bringing our ID business into HID opens an exciting new chapter, creating opportunities for our technology and our people to grow and succeed on a global scale.”

While the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the acquisition is expected to generate synergies through cross-selling, consolidated R&D efforts, and streamlined professional services. Integration challenges include aligning product roadmaps, unifying sales channels, and maintaining customer service quality during the transition.

Industry analysts note that this acquisition strengthens HID’s competitive position in secure authentication for shared devices and facility management, particularly in Europe and the Americas. It also accelerates consolidation in the identity solutions market, prompting competitors to enhance their credential technology offerings.

Looking ahead, HID plans to integrate inepro ID’s technologies with its OMNIKEY portfolio and develop unified software platforms to support broader credential compatibility. The combined entity aims to innovate next-generation credential technologies and expand adoption of secure print and shared device authentication worldwide.
