Unit4 acquires Napta, enhancing ERP with AI-driven skills intelligence for professional services. Discover the strategic benefits and market impact.
Unit4, a global provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, has completed the acquisition of Napta, a Paris-based resource management and skills-intelligence platform focused on professional and business services firms. The transaction, whose financial terms were not disclosed, marks a strategic step for Unit4 to deepen its presence in key verticals including professional services, public services, nonprofit, and education.
Napta, founded in 2018, offers a platform that combines skills intelligence, staffing, and capacity planning with AI-assisted matching technology. It serves over 100 firms across 70 countries, including leading consulting, audit, IT, and engineering companies. The acquisition includes Napta’s technology, customer base, and leadership team, with co-founder and CEO Arnaud Caldichoury continuing to lead the company alongside the other co-founders.
Unit4 plans to maintain Napta’s brand and open ecosystem model while leveraging its global reach and investment capacity to accelerate Napta’s growth. The integration will connect Napta’s skills and resource capacity data with Unit4’s project, financial, and people data, providing customers with a unified view of skills, capacity, projects, and financials. This combined offering aims to help professional services firms efficiently staff projects with the right skills and understand the financial impact in a single workflow.
Simon Paris, CEO of Unit4, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition: “The future of professional services organisations is people-first and skills-based, and Napta is the best in the market at putting the right people on the right work. This acquisition signals our intent to provide customers with best-in-class products that deliver more value to their clients.” Arnaud Caldichoury added, “Joining Unit4 accelerates our ambition to become the European reference in resource management and skills intelligence, while preserving our customer-focused approach and product innovation.”
The deal aligns with Unit4’s broader growth strategy, which includes expanding its cloud-native ERPx platform and investing in AI capabilities. Unit4 serves more than 4,700 customers globally across sectors such as professional and business services, nonprofit, public services, and education. Napta’s rapid customer growth and AI-driven platform complement Unit4’s ERP, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and human capital management (HCM) solutions.
Unit4 has been majority-backed by global growth private equity firm TA Associates since 2021, when TA agreed to acquire a majority stake in the company in a transaction valuing Unit4 at more than US$2 billion. Partners Group invested alongside TA Associates on behalf of its clients, while previous majority shareholder Advent International exited its investment. The backing of TA Associates and Partners Group provides additional context to Unit4’s continued investment in product development, AI capabilities, and strategic acquisitions.
Industry trends show increasing demand for integrated, AI-powered resource management tools that reduce administrative overhead and improve utilization and margins in professional services firms. By combining their platforms, Unit4 and Napta aim to offer an end-to-end solution covering the full professional services lifecycle—from winning projects to staffing and execution.
Financial details of the Napta acquisition remain undisclosed. However, the transaction is expected to generate synergies through cross-selling opportunities, shared technology infrastructure, and consolidated sales efforts. The companies also plan to continue investing in integrations with major ERP, professional services automation (PSA), and HCM platforms to support customers using diverse software ecosystems.
Looking ahead, Unit4 and Napta will focus on seamless integration while preserving Napta’s innovative culture and leadership. The combined entity aims to strengthen its competitive position against other ERP and resource management providers by delivering enhanced AI capabilities and broader geographic reach.
As the professional services sector increasingly prioritizes skills-based staffing and people-centric operations, this acquisition positions Unit4 to meet evolving customer needs and drive growth in a fast-expanding market.
