Banyan Software Acquires Belgian EdTech Leader Questi

Banyan Software acquires Belgian EdTech Questi, expanding its primary education software portfolio. Learn about the strategic growth and market impact.

Banyan Software, a global investor and operator of specialized software businesses, has acquired Questi, a Belgian education technology company focused on primary school student development. The deal, announced on August 25, 2026, brings Questi’s platform, which serves over 1,000 primary schools, 25,000 teachers, and 300,000 students across Belgium, into Banyan’s expanding portfolio.

While the financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the strategic move enhances Banyan’s presence in the Benelux education software market. Questi’s platform offers three interconnected products—Questi for Teachers, Questi for Parents, and Questi for Students—that facilitate lesson planning, student progress tracking, care file management, and report card generation. The software is multilingual, supporting Dutch, French, and English, and integrates with Belgian school information systems and curriculum frameworks.

Founded in 2008 in Geel, Belgium, Questi was developed by primary school teachers with a focus on prioritizing student needs over administrative burdens. Banyan Software, established in 2016, operates over 120 portfolio companies worldwide, specializing in software businesses serving niche industries with a buy-grow-and-hold investment approach.

According to Banyan, the acquisition aims to preserve Questi’s founder-led, human-centric support model while leveraging Banyan’s operational expertise and AI capabilities to accelerate product development and market penetration. Banyan’s portfolio in the Benelux region now includes six software businesses, fostering collaboration and shared best practices.

“We started Questi with a simple belief: software for schools should focus on the children,” said Questi’s founders. “Fourteen years on, we see opportunities bigger than we can pursue alone. Banyan offers the support and resources to protect what makes Questi special and to grow further.”

A Banyan spokesperson added, “Questi enjoys a unique loyalty because it was built by educators who understand the challenges schools face. Our role is to maintain that trust while scaling the platform and expanding its reach.”

The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends of consolidation in education technology, where companies seek to integrate complementary solutions and enhance data-driven student support. Banyan plans to cross-sell its existing education software products to Questi’s customer base and integrate technology infrastructure to optimize costs.

Challenges include maintaining Questi’s personalized support culture and aligning product roadmaps without disrupting user experience. However, Banyan’s experience in managing founder-led software businesses positions it well to navigate these risks.

Looking ahead, Banyan intends to deepen Questi’s market penetration within Belgium and explore expansion opportunities in adjacent regions. The integration will focus on preserving Questi’s core values while leveraging Banyan’s resources to innovate and scale.

This acquisition underscores Banyan Software’s commitment to growing its education technology portfolio and supporting software companies that prioritize end-user needs in specialized sectors.
