Hoorn Bloommasters takes minority stake in Topgeschenken, appoints new CEO, and partners to enhance floral sourcing, production, and sustainability.
Hoorn Bloommasters has acquired a minority stake in Topgeschenken, the Dutch parent company behind the brands Topbloemen, Toptaarten, and Topgeschenken. Alongside this investment, Jasper Jolink is appointed as the new CEO of Topgeschenken, succeeding founder Edwin van Arkel, who remains involved as a shareholder and strategic advisor. The deal marks a strategic partnership focused on enhancing sourcing, procurement, and production of Topgeschenken’s flower assortment.
Under the agreement, Hoorn Bloommasters will exclusively manage the sourcing, purchasing, and production of flowers for Topgeschenken. Both companies will continue to operate independently but will collaborate closely to leverage Hoorn Bloommasters’ established supply chain capabilities and production expertise. This partnership provides Topgeschenken with direct access to Hoorn Bloommasters’ international procurement network, production facilities, and logistics know-how.
Topgeschenken is a leading online platform offering flowers, fruit baskets, cakes, and gifts, serving thousands of consumers and business clients daily in the Netherlands and beyond. Hoorn Bloommasters is a family-owned company specializing in sourcing, production, logistics, and quality management within the flowers and plants sector. It combines scale with craftsmanship, employing hundreds of trained florists who produce hand-tied bouquets for various European markets.
The collaboration aims to improve product quality, availability, and customer experience by integrating Hoorn Bloommasters’ artisanal production with Topgeschenken’s strong brand portfolio and online platform. Both companies emphasize sustainability, focusing on transparency in flower sourcing, promoting certified cultivation, and advancing sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.
Jasper Jolink, who joined Topgeschenken 2.5 years ago as Supply Chain Director and later served as COO, takes over as CEO. Founder Edwin van Arkel expressed confidence in the new leadership and partnership, stating, “With Hoorn Bloommasters’ expertise combined with our brands and platform, we can offer customers a superior assortment, higher product quality, and stronger service. Our shared ambition is to build the most qualitative and sustainable flower platform in the Netherlands.” Van Arkel will remain actively involved as a shareholder and strategic advisor.
Hoorn Bloommasters highlighted the synergy between its skilled florists and Topgeschenken’s market reach. “Our daily production of fresh, hand-tied bouquets complements Topgeschenken’s strong brands and loyal customer base. Together, we strengthen the entire value chain from grower to consumer,” said a company representative.
Going forward, both organizations plan to optimize processes, expand the product range, and accelerate initiatives related to quality, logistics, and sustainability. This collaboration lays the foundation for long-term, sustainable growth in the competitive floral e-commerce market.
The deal reflects broader industry trends where supply chain integration and sustainability are key drivers of competitive advantage. By combining operational scale with craftsmanship and digital reach, Hoorn Bloommasters and Topgeschenken aim to enhance their market position amid increasing consumer demand for quality and responsible sourcing.
Financial terms of the minority stake acquisition were not disclosed. Both companies will maintain their independent operations while aligning closely on sourcing and production strategies. The partnership is expected to face integration challenges typical of minority investments, including governance coordination and cultural alignment, but both parties express confidence in the strategic fit and growth potential.
As the floral and gift e-commerce sector evolves, this alliance positions Topgeschenken to leverage Hoorn Bloommasters’ supply chain expertise and sustainability credentials, potentially increasing market share and customer loyalty across Europe.
