Scheybeeck invests in Sandee Groen, a Dutch green space firm with 250+ employees, to support expansion and innovation. Learn more about the partnership.
Scheybeeck, a family investment company with over six decades of experience, has taken a strategic stake in Sandee Groen, a leading Dutch green space construction, management, and maintenance firm. Founded in 1989, Sandee Groen employs more than 250 people and serves a diverse client base including municipalities, recreation companies such as EuroParcs and Landal GreenParks, healthcare institutions, and corporate clients across the Netherlands.
The deal marks a new chapter for Sandee Groen, a family-owned business based in Kamperland, Zeeland. Jan Sandee, founder and director, emphasizes that the company is entering this partnership from a position of strength and readiness for growth. “We have built a strong market position with dedicated colleagues and loyal clients. This partnership is not out of necessity but because we are prepared for the next step,” he said.
The partnership with Scheybeeck is designed to provide Sandee with additional resources to invest in people, equipment, digital innovation, and strategic acquisitions. The company plans to continue expanding its footprint by integrating smaller landscaping firms seeking succession solutions or stronger organizational backing.
Sandee Groen’s core business focuses on delivering high-quality, sustainable green space solutions with a flexible approach tailored to client needs. The company balances innovation and efficiency to enhance the quality and sustainability of outdoor environments. Its nationwide presence combined with local expertise positions it as a reliable partner for both large recreation enterprises and local green projects.
Scheybeeck, established in 1962, specializes in long-term investments in healthy, ambitious companies. The firm prioritizes sustainable growth and respects the identity and independence of the businesses it supports. Dick Burger, director at Scheybeeck, noted, “Sandee exemplifies the values we believe in: craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and a strong culture. Our role is to support Jan and his team in realizing their ambitions without altering what makes Sandee unique.”
To support its growth ambitions, Sandee has recently expanded its management team, creating capacity to manage future acquisitions and integrations. Jan Sandee will remain at the helm, ensuring continuity in leadership, culture, and company values. “Our strength lies in our practical, flexible, and steadfast approach. That will not change. Sandee remains Sandee, but with greater opportunities to realize our growth plans,” he added.
The deal comes amid a broader trend of consolidation in the landscaping and environmental services sector in the Netherlands. Increasing demand for sustainable, cost-effective green space management is driving companies to scale operations and invest in digital tools. Sandee’s partnership with Scheybeeck is expected to accelerate its market position and operational capabilities, potentially prompting smaller regional players to consider mergers or partnerships to stay competitive.
Looking ahead, Sandee plans to leverage Scheybeeck’s network and capital to enhance service offerings, improve operational efficiency, and attract skilled talent. The company remains committed to maintaining its culture and client relationships while pursuing sustainable growth.
