InnovMetric acquires Duwe-3d, its German partner, to enhance 3D metrology services and product offerings across German-speaking Europe.
InnovMetric, a leading developer of 3D metrology software, has finalized the acquisition of Duwe-3d, its long-standing German master distributor for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, on April 14, 2026. The transaction follows 27 years of close collaboration and strengthens InnovMetric’s European division by integrating Duwe-3d’s technical services and complementary product portfolio.
The terms of the deal, including financial details, were not disclosed. InnovMetric acquires 100% ownership of Duwe-3d, consolidating its presence in key German-speaking markets. The integration is expected to streamline sales and support teams, optimize product development, and improve customer service continuity.
Duwe-3d, founded in 1999 by Dr. Hans-Peter Duwe, has been the exclusive distributor of InnovMetric’s PolyWorks software in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Over nearly three decades, Duwe-3d developed a strong reputation among manufacturing companies for its technical expertise and complementary products that enhance PolyWorks’ capabilities, including automation tools and digital clamping process support.
InnovMetric, established as a pioneer in 3D metrology software, introduced point-cloud-based dimensional inspection in 2000 and launched the universal PolyWorks platform in 2006. With over 26,000 customers worldwide, InnovMetric serves major industrial manufacturers and continues to innovate in digital data and process management technologies.
Marc Soucy, President and co-founder of InnovMetric, stated, “The integration of Duwe-3d into the InnovMetric group will lay the foundation for a unified European team that will optimize our efficiency and develop consistent sales and deployment strategies for European manufacturers. This will enable us to better support our customers in their digital transformation, helping them maximize the use of measurement data at all stages of the product lifecycle.”
Dr. Hans-Peter Duwe added, “Building Duwe-3d has been one of the defining journeys of my professional life. Entrusting Duwe-3d to InnovMetric feels like a natural next step that ensures continuity for our customers and creates strong long-term opportunities for our employees and the PolyWorks community in Europe.”
The acquisition strengthens InnovMetric’s leadership in the 3D metrology market across German-speaking Europe by integrating Duwe-3d’s established customer relationships, technical teams, and complementary product lines. This consolidation is expected to accelerate innovation, improve customer experience, and increase market penetration amid growing industry demand for digital transformation in manufacturing.
Industry experts note that this deal may prompt competitors to enhance their regional capabilities through partnerships or acquisitions, intensifying competition in the European 3D metrology sector.
Going forward, InnovMetric plans to maintain existing customer contacts and ensure a smooth integration process while leveraging shared resources to develop next-generation metrology solutions. Regulatory approvals were not indicated as a concern, and the companies anticipate minimal disruption during the transition.
This acquisition marks a significant step in InnovMetric’s strategy to unify its European operations and expand its technical service offerings, positioning the company for sustained growth in the evolving industrial metrology landscape.
