Intertoys acquires 75% of Wings Holding, parent of Lobbes and Thimble Toys, backed by €7M refinancing to enhance e-commerce and logistics capabilities.
Intertoys, a leading Dutch toy retailer and member of the ToyChamp group, has acquired a 75% majority stake in Wings Holding B.V., the parent company of Lobbes Speelgoed and Thimble Toys. The remaining 25% ownership remains with the current management team. The deal was announced on April 10, 2026, and includes a refinancing package of nearly €7 million arranged by ING Bank to support the future growth plans of Lobbes.nl and Thimble Toys.
The acquisition maintains the standalone operations of Lobbes.nl and Thimble Toys, with no planned changes to their existing business models or leadership. The current management team, including Rene Lobbes, Yvonne Lobbes, and Berry de Snoo, will continue to oversee daily operations. Employment levels at both Intertoys and Lobbes are unaffected by the transaction.
Intertoys, established over 50 years ago, operates more than 200 stores across the Netherlands, including 25 Intertoys-XL locations, alongside a robust online presence. As the largest toy retail chain in the country, Intertoys aims to encourage play across all ages through a diverse product range and an omnichannel business model supported by over 1,500 toy specialists.
Lobbes.nl, with a 37-year history, specializes in online toy retail offering nearly 40,000 products, focusing on party favors, crafts, hobbies, and wooden toys. Thimble Toys operates as an online toy wholesaler and distributor with over 20,000 products in stock, serving multiple European markets.
The strategic rationale behind the acquisition centers on leveraging complementary product assortments and customer bases to strengthen the ToyChamp group’s position in the Dutch toy market. Intertoys CEO Eddy Assies highlights that the addition of Lobbes.nl and Thimble Toys enhances the group’s online toy offerings and supports further growth ambitions.
Operational synergies are expected through the optimization of logistics and e-commerce fulfillment capabilities at the Lobbes.nl and Thimble Toys distribution center in Ede. Shared procurement and supply chain efficiencies within the ToyChamp group are also anticipated to reduce costs and improve service levels.
Market trends indicate increasing consolidation in the toy retail sector, driven by the growing importance of e-commerce and the need for efficient logistics. This acquisition positions ToyChamp to better compete with smaller retailers and respond to evolving consumer preferences.
Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, but the €7 million refinancing package arranged by ING Bank provides the necessary capital to fund the business plan and accelerate growth initiatives.
Looking ahead, the integration will focus on maintaining distinct brand identities while realizing operational efficiencies. The management teams will collaborate closely to optimize logistics without disrupting customer service. Regulatory approvals are not expected to pose significant hurdles.
Overall, this acquisition strengthens ToyChamp’s market leadership in the Benelux toy retail sector and supports its long-term strategy of expanding online capabilities and product offerings.
