Accel-KKR Makes Strategic Growth Investment in UpKeep’s AI Asset Platform

Accel-KKR makes strategic growth investment in UpKeep to expand its AI-native asset operations platform used by 400,000+ users globally.

Accel-KKR, a leading global investment firm specializing in software, has announced a strategic growth investment in UpKeep, an AI-native asset operations platform. The investment, announced on May 21, 2026, aims to accelerate UpKeep’s platform expansion and enhance its AI-driven capabilities across maintenance, safety, and learning management for frontline operations.

UpKeep’s platform currently supports more than 400,000 users across 60 countries, providing tools that streamline asset maintenance, safety workflows, and workforce learning. The company integrates AI at every layer of its platform, including an AI agent that automates routine tasks with managerial approval. This investment will enable UpKeep to scale these AI features and broaden its product offerings.

Ryan Chan, Founder and CEO of UpKeep, stated, “Partnering with Accel-KKR is a natural next step in our growth journey. We started UpKeep to give the people who keep the physical world running software as capable as the tools they use everywhere else in their lives. The platform we are building now stretches that mission across maintenance, safety, and learning, with AI woven through every layer.”

UpKeep’s platform includes modules for health and safety workflows, a learning management system tailored for operations teams and deskless workers, and a customizable application builder that adapts to diverse team workflows. Its AI platform enhances operational efficiency by automating routine work and improving user onboarding and retention.

Accel-KKR, headquartered in Menlo Park, California, manages over $23 billion in capital commitments and focuses on software and technology-enabled businesses with strong growth potential. Dean Jacobson, Managing Director at Accel-KKR, commented, “UpKeep is a category leader with a clear vision, a strong product, and a deeply loyal customer base. We believe Ryan and his team have built a durable business with a sizable opportunity ahead of it, particularly as AI reshapes how organizations manage their physical work.”

The investment will leverage Accel-KKR’s expertise in scaling software companies to accelerate UpKeep’s AI platform development and expand its global reach. The partnership is expected to create synergies through cross-selling AI-enhanced asset operations solutions to Accel-KKR’s portfolio companies, shared technology infrastructure, and streamlined sales and marketing efforts.

UpKeep’s customer base includes over 4,000 companies such as Unilever, Chevron, Caterpillar, and McDonald’s. These clients use the platform to reduce unplanned downtime, extend asset life, and manage maintenance, safety, and reliability across multiple sites and assets.

Looking ahead, UpKeep plans to integrate its AI capabilities more deeply across its modules and expand into new markets supported by Accel-KKR’s international network. The companies will focus on maintaining UpKeep’s customer-centric culture while scaling rapidly and ensuring seamless integration of AI features without disrupting existing workflows.

As AI continues to transform asset operations, UpKeep’s enhanced platform positions it strongly against competitors, who may respond by increasing their own AI investments or pursuing strategic partnerships. The deal underscores the growing importance of AI-native solutions in managing frontline operations efficiently and safely.
