Royal BAM Group nv has announced its acquisition of Gebroeders Blokland, a residential property developer based in Hardinxveld Giessendam. This strategic move aims to strengthen BAM's position in the Dutch residential market, leveraging Gebroeders Blokland's extensive portfolio of land and projects.
Royal BAM Group has reached an agreement to acquire Gebroeders Blokland, an integrated residential property developer located in Hardinxveld Giessendam. This acquisition is set to enhance BAM’s position in the Dutch residential property development and construction market, capitalizing on Gebroeders Blokland’s strong portfolio of land positions and residential projects.
Gebroeders Blokland boasts land and building rights for approximately 2,400 homes, primarily situated in suburban areas across South Holland, Utrecht, Gelderland, and North Brabant. The company generated revenue of around €95 million in 2025, with an EBITDA of approximately €10 million. The combination of BAM’s expertise and Gebroeders Blokland’s regional presence is expected to unlock significant growth opportunities.
Ruud Joosten, CEO of Royal BAM Group, stated, “The intended acquisition of Gebroeders Blokland fits seamlessly with our strategy to strengthen our position in residential property development in the Netherlands. It will increase our annual development potential by around 10%. Over the past year, we have significantly expanded our investments in land and building rights to ensure we can meet the growing demand for sustainable and affordable homes.”
René Biesheuvel, Managing Director of Gebroeders Blokland, expressed pride in the company’s achievements, attributing their success to the trust from shareholders Gert and Wim Blokland. He emphasized, “We are convinced that BAM is the right partner to help our employees, clients, partners, and project optimization, and to ensure continuity in the region whilst remaining autonomous within the BAM organization.”
Following the acquisition, Gebroeders Blokland will continue to operate independently under its own name, maintaining its strong regional representation and collaboration with partners, supported by the resources of a larger corporation. The completion of the transaction is contingent upon approval from the Dutch Consumer and Market Authority (ACM) under the Dutch Competition Decree.
This acquisition aligns with broader trends in the construction and real estate sectors, where companies are increasingly seeking to consolidate their market positions to address rising demand for housing. As BAM integrates Gebroeders Blokland’s operations, it aims to enhance its project portfolio and leverage synergies in sales and project management.
Looking ahead, BAM plans to implement its Flow housing concept in suitable Gebroeders Blokland developments, further enhancing the sustainability and affordability of residential offerings. The acquisition is expected to not only bolster BAM’s market share but also improve its competitive positioning in the rapidly evolving residential development landscape.
