Postnova Analytics GmbH, a leader in Field-Flow Fractionation and Multi Angle Light Scattering technologies based in Landsberg, Germany, has acquired LS Instruments AG, headquartered in Fribourg, Switzerland. The acquisition, completed on July 30, 2026, brings together two complementary portfolios in advanced analytical instruments, focusing on light scattering and microrheology.
LS Instruments will continue full operations from its Swiss headquarters, maintaining its existing team dedicated to developing, manufacturing, and supporting its innovative product range. This includes flagship instruments such as the LS Spectrometer II, DWS RheoLab, and NanoLab 3D, which serve customers across academia, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food, cosmetics, and advanced materials sectors.
The transaction’s financial terms were not disclosed. Postnova Analytics now holds 100% ownership of LS Instruments, aiming to leverage combined scientific expertise and technologies to accelerate innovation and expand international market presence. The integration is expected to create synergies in research and development, manufacturing, and customer support, while preserving operational continuity in Fribourg.
LS Instruments has established a strong reputation for particle characterization and microrheology applications, providing advanced solutions for complex fluid and formulation analysis. Postnova Analytics complements this with its leadership in Field-Flow Fractionation and Multi Angle Light Scattering, technologies widely used in biopharma, material science, and environmental research.
According to a Postnova representative, “The acquisition represents a significant milestone, combining two portfolios that cover the full spectrum from fractionated component analysis to intact sample characterization. This creates substantial potential for synergies, faster product development, and broader applications for our customers worldwide.” The integration of LS Instruments’ high-value technologies into Postnova’s global commercial and technical support framework is expected to enhance accessibility and innovation.
The deal positions the combined entity as a leading provider of light scattering and microrheology instruments, strengthening its competitive stance amid accelerating industry consolidation. The companies anticipate cross-selling opportunities, expanded geographic reach across Europe and beyond, and joint development of next-generation analytical tools.
Challenges remain in aligning corporate cultures and management practices across the German and Swiss operations, ensuring seamless integration without disrupting ongoing product development, and retaining key technical talent critical to innovation. Both companies emphasize their commitment to maintaining product quality and customer support throughout the transition.
Looking ahead, Postnova Analytics plans to capitalize on the combined R&D capabilities to broaden applications and accelerate innovation pipelines. The acquisition is expected to create value by expanding the technology portfolio and customer base, while improving operational efficiencies.
LS Instruments’ board expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support and confidence in the company’s future growth under Postnova’s ownership. The transaction marks a new chapter aimed at delivering advanced analytical solutions to a global research community.
