Bel Group acquires Brainiac® brands from Ingenuity Foods, expanding its functional, portion-sized snack portfolio for families in North America.

Bel Group, a global leader in dairy, fruit, and vegetable snacking, announces the acquisition of the Brainiac® and Little Brainiac® brands from Ingenuity Foods on May 6, 2026. This strategic acquisition expands Bel’s portfolio of better-for-you, portion-sized snacks designed to support brain health and development in children and families across North America.

The deal, whose financial terms were not disclosed, brings Brainiac®’s rapidly growing product line under Bel’s umbrella. Brainiac® snacks have experienced triple-digit net sales growth over the past year and are known for their functional benefits, including Omega-3s and nutrients supporting brain, gut, and immune health. The acquisition complements Bel’s existing GoGo squeeZ® platform and broadens its offerings in the functional fruit and vegetable snack category, including smoothies, juice squeezers, fruit snacks, and baby/toddler foods.

Bel Group, with a 160-year history and iconic brands such as Babybel®, The Laughing Cow®, and Boursin®, operates multiple U.S. facilities and is committed to innovation and sustainability. Ingenuity Foods, a Certified B Corporation, is recognized for its science-backed Brainiac® snacks developed with nutritionists and neuroscientists to promote healthy brain development.

Peter McGuinness, CEO of Bel North America, states, “This move gives us more scale, product choices and breadth across our portfolio and truly is a 1 + 1 = 3 opportunity for us and Ingenuity. By bringing Brainiac® brands into our family, we’re unlocking a new era of growth, innovation, and social impact.” Ingenuity Foods will continue to operate under its current leadership, ensuring continuity. Mark Brooks, CEO and Co-Founder of Ingenuity Foods, adds, “We are excited to join forces with Bel and bring Brainiac® to even more families. Bel’s dedication to nutrition and purpose-driven brands aligns perfectly with our vision.” Jonathan Wolfson, Founder of Ingenuity Foods, emphasizes the shared mission to inspire healthier choices for children and parents.

The acquisition aligns with Bel’s recent investments in U.S. production capacity, including the expansion of its South Dakota plant. McGuinness highlights that market trends such as GLP-1 diets, updated dietary guidelines, and consumer demand for real-ingredient snacks position Bel to capitalize on emerging opportunities. The integration of Brainiac® accelerates Bel’s leadership in functional snacking and reinforces its commitment to delivering nutritious, portion-sized snacks that adults trust and children enjoy.

Industry analysts note that this acquisition strengthens Bel’s competitive position in the North American functional snack market, particularly among younger children and families. The combined portfolio offers enhanced nutritional benefits and product variety, which may prompt competitors to increase innovation and marketing efforts in this segment.

Operational synergies include leveraging Bel’s distribution channels to accelerate Brainiac®’s market penetration, consolidating supply chains, and unifying research and development efforts. Challenges include maintaining Ingenuity Foods’ brand identity and social impact commitments while integrating operations.

Looking ahead, Bel plans to continue expanding its innovation pipeline and market reach, focusing on functional, better-for-you snacks that meet evolving consumer preferences. The acquisition underscores Bel’s strategic focus on sustainable growth and social responsibility in the food and beverage sector.
