DELTA Equity Partners partners with PI Medical to build a leading nuclear medicine and imaging platform across Northwest Europe. Learn more about the growth strategy.
DELTA Equity Partners, an Amsterdam-based private equity firm focused on technology and health sectors, has entered into a strategic partnership with PI Medical, the Dutch market leader in nuclear medicine and radiology distribution and services. The partnership, announced on October 8, 2026, aims to build a leading nuclear medicine and broader medical imaging platform across Northwest Europe.
PI Medical, founded in 1995 and headquartered in Raamsdonksveer, has established itself as the national leader in the Netherlands by supplying high-end medical equipment, radioactive medicines, accessories, and maintenance services to nuclear medicine and radiology departments. The company serves all seven Dutch academic hospitals and maintains strong relationships with leading suppliers and healthcare providers.
Under the partnership, DELTA Equity Partners will support PI Medical’s expansion beyond the Dutch market through an active buy & build strategy. This approach involves acquiring complementary companies to broaden the product portfolio and geographic reach, targeting markets including Belgium, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. No financial terms were disclosed.
Peter Liedorp, Managing Director of PI Medical, stated, “This partnership with DELTA aligns perfectly with our vision of building the European quality leader in our field. By expanding internationally, we can support healthcare providers in other countries in accelerating and improving their nuclear medicine and medical imaging care.” His counterpart, John Danklof, also Managing Director, emphasized the importance of cultural fit and shared ambition in selecting DELTA as a partner.
John Luijs, Partner at DELTA Equity Partners, commented, “PI Medical combines a leading market position with the expertise, relationships and ambition needed to build a broader European platform. We look forward to partnering with Peter, John and the wider team to accelerate growth, expand into neighbouring markets and pursue attractive acquisition opportunities.”
The partnership leverages DELTA’s capital, industry knowledge, and network to accelerate PI Medical’s growth strategy. Expected synergies include cross-selling high-end nuclear medicine and radiology equipment across an expanded footprint, consolidating procurement to reduce costs, and integrating complementary technologies and service capabilities. Operational efficiencies will be pursued through standardization of customer service and maintenance protocols, as well as enhanced data infrastructure to support multi-country operations.
The deal comes amid increasing consolidation in the healthcare distribution and medical imaging sectors, where scale and technological integration are critical competitive factors. By building a regional platform, PI Medical and DELTA aim to strengthen their market position against smaller local distributors and service providers, who may respond with their own M&A or strategic partnerships.
Challenges ahead include aligning the cultures and operational processes of acquired companies, managing regulatory compliance across diverse European healthcare markets, and integrating IT systems. Retaining key talent and customer relationships will also be critical during the expansion phase.
Looking forward, the partnership plans to pursue targeted acquisitions and expand service offerings beyond nuclear medicine into broader medical imaging segments. This strategy aims to create a leading Northwest European platform capable of delivering advanced equipment, consumables, and services to healthcare providers.
Both parties express confidence that the collaboration will accelerate growth and innovation in nuclear medicine and medical imaging, ultimately benefiting healthcare providers and patients across the region.
