Main Capital Partners acquires majority stake in Raynet GmbH, enhancing IT visibility and cybersecurity solutions with global expansion plans.
Main Capital Partners has acquired a majority stake in Raynet GmbH, a Paderborn-based provider of IT visibility, IT Asset Management, and cybersecurity software solutions. The transaction, completed with the previous owner PINOVA Capital, marks a strategic move into a rapidly expanding sector driven by increasing IT complexity and cybersecurity demands.
Raynet, founded in 1999, employs approximately 170 professionals and operates primarily in the DACH region, with growing presence across Europe and North America. Its flagship AI-enabled platform, Raynet One, integrates discovery capabilities with a proprietary Technology Catalog to centralize fragmented IT data, providing enterprises with a trusted source for IT management and security.
The acquisition terms, including financial details, have not been disclosed. However, the deal involves Main Capital Partners taking a controlling interest to support Raynet’s growth ambitions. The partnership aims to accelerate Raynet’s international expansion, enhance its product offerings with adjacent data management and security functionalities, and pursue a targeted buy-and-build strategy to complement organic growth.
Raynet serves a diverse customer base across multiple industries through direct sales and partner channels. The company’s solutions address rising challenges such as regulatory compliance, cybersecurity threats, and the need for high-quality data to support AI applications in IT operations.
“Raynet’s combination of IT visibility, asset management, and security capabilities addresses a growing need among enterprises to understand and control increasingly complex IT environments,” said a spokesperson for Main Capital Partners. “We are impressed by the company’s proprietary Technology Catalog, the capabilities of Raynet One, and the expertise of its team. We believe Raynet is well-positioned to benefit from the increasing demand for reliable technology data as organizations strengthen their IT operations and adopt AI.”
Raynet’s management echoed this optimism. The company’s leadership highlighted their readiness to scale internationally with Main Capital Partners, emphasizing the shared vision and software expertise that the private equity firm brings. “Our ambition is clear: we do not just want to accompany the market for True IT Asset Visibility – we want to shape it,” said Raynet’s CEO.
The acquisition occurs amid a broader industry trend of consolidation and innovation in IT asset management and cybersecurity. Enterprises face growing pressure to secure and optimize complex IT landscapes, driving demand for integrated, AI-enabled solutions like Raynet One.
Financially, while specific multiples and valuations were not disclosed, the deal is expected to create synergies through cross-selling opportunities within Main Capital’s portfolio, economies of scale in R&D, and operational efficiencies. The partnership also aims to strengthen strategic partnerships and expand sales channels internationally.
Looking ahead, Raynet plans to leverage Main Capital’s experience in scaling software companies to accelerate product development and geographic expansion, particularly in North America and broader Europe. Integration challenges include aligning strategic priorities across borders and maintaining product innovation momentum while expanding the platform’s capabilities.
Overall, this acquisition positions Raynet to enhance its market leadership in IT visibility and cybersecurity, responding to evolving enterprise needs with advanced AI-driven technology and a comprehensive product suite.
