Baltisse -backed PIA Group Acquires Finergie to Boost AI and Advisory Services

PIA Group acquires Finergie, boosting AI capabilities and healthcare advisory in South Netherlands. Learn about the strategic deal and future plans.

PIA Group, a leading accountancy and advisory network active across the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany backed by Belgium private equity firm Baltisse, has acquired Finergie, an entrepreneurial firm based in South Netherlands. Finergie specializes in accountancy, fiscal, and legal advisory services, serving directors-major shareholders (DGA’s), family businesses, international companies, and holds a strong position in the healthcare sector.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The integration aims to leverage Finergie’s established client relationships and technological investments, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization, to enhance PIA Group’s service offerings. This move expands PIA Group’s network to 24 entrepreneurial offices, 67 locations, and over 1,700 employees in the Netherlands alone.

Founded over two decades ago, Finergie has grown organically into a trusted advisor for entrepreneurs in South Netherlands. The firm emphasizes personal involvement, short communication lines, and long-term client relationships. Its advisory approach extends beyond business operations to include support for entrepreneurs and their families across economic, fiscal, and legal matters. Finergie has also been an early adopter of AI solutions in daily practice, which aligns with PIA Group’s strategic focus on innovation.

According to Ewout Brouwers, partner at Finergie, “We want to maintain our identity while benefiting from the strength of a larger group. The collaboration is especially promising in AI and automation, where developments are rapid. Together, we can accelerate progress more effectively than alone.” Another partner highlighted the competitive labor market and fast-paced software advancements, noting that PIA Group’s knowledge and scale will help Finergie stay at the forefront while preserving its recognizable brand.

PIA Group’s CEO commented, “Finergie exemplifies how entrepreneurship, quality, and innovation can be combined naturally. Their vision on technology and personal advice fits perfectly with our strategy. We look forward to building the future of accountancy together.” Since its founding in 2012, PIA Group has grown into an international organization with over 75 offices and 3,800 employees, focusing on combining innovation at scale with local autonomy.

The acquisition is expected to generate synergies by cross-selling advisory and fiscal services to Finergie’s client base, expanding healthcare sector offerings, and leveraging AI-driven solutions to attract new clients. Cost efficiencies will arise from shared technology investments, consolidated back-office functions, and economies of scale in procurement and software licensing.

Operationally, the deal will accelerate digital transformation, improve talent acquisition and retention, and streamline client service processes by adopting best practices from both firms. Challenges include maintaining Finergie’s local identity and client trust, aligning technology platforms without service disruption, managing cultural integration, and balancing autonomy with centralized strategy.

The acquisition strengthens PIA Group’s market position in South Netherlands and the healthcare advisory segment. It also intensifies competitive pressure, likely prompting rivals to pursue similar consolidation and invest more heavily in AI and automation.

Looking ahead, PIA Group plans to integrate Finergie’s operations while preserving its brand and working methods. The combined entity aims to enhance client retention through personalized, technology-enabled advisory services and expand into new verticals within healthcare and family-owned businesses. The partnership also seeks to foster an innovative work environment to attract and develop talent.

Regulatory approvals and integration timelines were not disclosed. Both parties emphasize a shared commitment to innovation, quality, and local entrepreneurship as key drivers for future growth.
