Baker Tilly, a leading Dutch accountancy and advisory firm backed by London-based private equity firm Inflexion, has entered into a strategic partnership with Baat, a well-established accountancy and advisory provider in Limburg. Announced on July 6, 2026, the collaboration aims to expand Baker Tilly’s nationwide presence while preserving Baat’s strong regional identity.
The partnership brings together two firms with complementary strengths. Baat operates from multiple locations in Limburg, including Maastricht, Sittard, Roermond, and Venlo, offering a broad range of services such as accountancy, audit, fiscal advice, labor and corporate law, and corporate finance. Known for its entrepreneurial culture and personalized client approach, Baat is often described as “the best-kept secret of Limburg.”
With this alliance, Baker Tilly and Baat form a combined platform generating over €220 million in annual revenue. While no financial terms were disclosed, the partnership is structured to maintain continuity for clients, who will retain their existing contacts and service experience. Baat will continue operating under the name “Baat, powered by Baker Tilly,” signaling integration while preserving its distinct identity.
Ronald Hoeksel, CEO of Baker Tilly, highlights the strategic rationale: “Baat is an entrepreneurial and high-quality firm with a strong position in Limburg and a culture that aligns well with ours. Their deep client relationships and broad service offering complement our ambition to grow as a full-service provider with strong local involvement. Together, we enhance our capabilities in southern Netherlands and can better support entrepreneurs with specialist knowledge, innovation, and international expertise.”
Cyril Ermans, partner at Baat, adds, “Our firm is built on entrepreneurship, personal involvement, and a commitment to truly advancing our clients. Baker Tilly shares these values and provides the scale, expertise, and innovation power to offer even greater prospects to our clients and employees. This partnership enables us to strengthen our regional position while maintaining the Baat DNA that distinguishes us.”
The collaboration aligns with broader industry trends of consolidation and regional expansion among accountancy and advisory firms. By combining resources, the firms expect to enhance cross-selling opportunities, expand service offerings, and improve operational efficiencies through shared back-office functions and integrated IT systems.
Market observers note that this partnership strengthens Baker Tilly’s competitive positioning in the Netherlands, particularly in Limburg and the northern regions, including Groningen. The expanded footprint allows Baker Tilly to offer a more comprehensive advisory portfolio and leverage Baat’s local client relationships to deepen market penetration.
Looking ahead, the firms plan to focus on seamless integration, retaining key talent, and aligning corporate cultures to realize anticipated synergies. Clients can expect continued personalized service alongside access to enhanced expertise in areas such as digitalization, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and talent development.
This strategic move positions Baker Tilly to accelerate growth and innovation in a competitive market, responding to increasing client demand for full-service advisory platforms with strong local presence.
