The Damiani Group has completed its acquisition of Baume & Mercier, a specialist watchmaker with a 200-year heritage, from Richemont. The transaction, initially announced on January 22, 2026, concludes following the fulfillment of all condition precedents. This acquisition significantly broadens Damiani’s presence in the luxury watch sector, complementing its existing portfolio of prestigious jewellery and luxury brands.
Baume & Mercier joins the Damiani Group’s stable alongside established names such as Damiani, Salvini, Bliss, Calderoni, Venini, and Rocca. The latter is the Group’s leading multi-brand watch and jewellery distributor. Richemont will continue to provide operational support for Baume & Mercier during an interim period to ensure a smooth transition as the brand integrates into Damiani’s operations.
Founded in Valenza, Italy, the Damiani Group is a family-led luxury jewellery and watchmaking company with nearly a century of history. It is recognized for its handcrafted creations and commitment to Italian craftsmanship. Baume & Mercier, known for its accessible luxury positioning and strong Italian market footprint, is expected to benefit from Damiani’s extensive multi-brand distribution network and selective expansion of mono-brand boutiques in key international markets.
Richemont CEO Nicolas Bos commented, “Damiani Group has been a valued historical partner for Baume & Mercier and Richemont. Given Baume & Mercier’s strong presence in Italy and its multi-brand distribution model, Damiani is uniquely positioned to unlock the Maison’s full potential.” Guido Damiani, Executive President of Damiani Group, added, “This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our growth strategy. Leveraging our international distribution and luxury expertise, we aim to preserve and enhance Baume & Mercier’s heritage while expanding its global reach.”
The deal aligns with Damiani’s strategy to strengthen its position in the accessible luxury watch segment and to create synergies across its portfolio. The Group plans to optimize operational efficiencies by consolidating supply chains and retail networks, while enhancing Baume & Mercier’s marketing and brand visibility worldwide.
Industry observers note that this acquisition positions Damiani to better compete in the luxury watch market, particularly against other accessible luxury brands. The combined entity’s enhanced distribution capabilities and brand portfolio may prompt competitors to increase marketing efforts and explore strategic partnerships.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Richemont will support Baume & Mercier’s operations during the integration phase, facilitating a seamless transition. The Damiani Group intends to selectively open new Baume & Mercier boutiques internationally, complementing its existing retail footprint.
Looking ahead, Damiani aims to leverage this acquisition to drive growth in the luxury watch segment while maintaining the distinct identity and craftsmanship that define Baume & Mercier. The integration represents a strategic step in expanding Damiani’s global luxury presence and enhancing shareholder value.
