Triton-backed Hanab Acquires Green Frog Connect and AMS Trenchless to Expand UK Presence

Hanab expands into the UK by acquiring Green Frog Connect and AMS Trenchless, strengthening its energy and connectivity infrastructure portfolio.

Hanab, a prominent Dutch company specializing in energy, technology, and connectivity solutions backed by Triton Partners, has announced the acquisition of two UK-based firms, Green Frog Connect and AMS Trenchless, on June 22, 2026. This move establishes Hanab’s firm presence in the United Kingdom, expanding its footprint in the high-voltage infrastructure and horizontal directional drilling sectors.

While the financial terms of the acquisitions remain undisclosed, Hanab has acquired 100% ownership of both companies. The transactions involve the full integration of their businesses and assets, aligning with Hanab’s broader international growth strategy.

Green Frog Connect, headquartered in Bristol, is a specialist in high-voltage engineering and contracting. The company focuses on the design, delivery, and connection of high-voltage infrastructure, particularly serving renewables, industrial clients, and utilities. Its turnkey projects cover engineering, civil works, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high-voltage installations up to approximately 132 kV.

AMS Trenchless is a medium-sized specialist in horizontal directional drilling (HDD), primarily operating within the UK market. Hanab plans to leverage AMS Trenchless’s expertise, including nearshore drilling capabilities, to complement and expand its existing drilling operations beyond the UK.

Guus de Vries, COO of Hanab Energy & Water, commented, “Both companies are a perfect fit with the Hanab formula. We combine high-quality engineering, execution, and specialised drilling techniques, enabling us to serve clients in an integrated way. At the same time, we see opportunities to embed existing expertise more broadly within our organisation, strengthening our capabilities across multiple markets.”

Hanab’s CEO, Stanley Maas, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisitions: “With the acquisitions of Green Frog Connect and AMS Trenchless, we are taking an important step in our international growth strategy. The United Kingdom offers a strong and rapidly growing energy market where, with our combined expertise, we can add value immediately. This strengthens our position in high-voltage infrastructure and underground networks.”

These acquisitions align with Hanab’s ambitious growth plan, which recently included the purchase of Dutch cleanroom specialist CTC Solutions and three installation companies in the Netherlands. Alongside its established presence in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium, the UK now represents a key market for Hanab’s expansion.

Strategically, the deal enables Hanab to cross-sell its connectivity and energy solutions to a new UK customer base, while achieving cost efficiencies through shared procurement and consolidated back-office functions. Operationally, integrating AMS Trenchless’s trenchless technology expertise enhances Hanab’s project delivery capabilities and resource allocation across geographies.

However, Hanab faces integration challenges such as aligning corporate cultures, managing regulatory compliance across jurisdictions, and retaining key talent from the acquired companies. The company is also engaged in ongoing discussions with other UK firms to further strengthen its market position and anticipates announcing collaborations in Belgium and Germany soon.

The UK infrastructure and connectivity sectors are experiencing accelerated consolidation, and Hanab’s expanded capabilities and geographic reach are likely to increase competitive pressure on local players. Competitors may respond with similar acquisitions, increased technology investments, or strategic partnerships.

Looking ahead, Hanab aims to leverage cross-border knowledge transfer and innovation to improve customer retention and service offerings. The company’s integrated approach positions it to capitalize on the growing demand for energy and connectivity infrastructure in the UK and beyond.
