PIA Group acquires VANDERLAANGROEP, strengthening its MKB accountancy services in Noord-Holland. Discover the strategic growth and integration plans.
Baltisse-backed PIA Group has taken a significant step in consolidating its position within the Dutch MKB (small and medium-sized enterprises) accountancy and advisory market by acquiring VANDERLAANGROEP. The firm, which operates from three locations in Assendelft, Noord-Scharwoude, and Purmerend, employs 45 staff members and specializes in fiscal services for SMEs and directors-major shareholders (DGA’s).
Founded in 1928, VANDERLAANGROEP has a long-standing regional presence and is known for its practical approach and strong client relationships. The firm supports entrepreneurs with accountancy, tax, business transfer, and personnel advisory services, emphasizing a personal and entrepreneurial style. It is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary in approximately 18 months, underscoring its enduring market relevance.
Under the terms of the acquisition, VANDERLAANGROEP will continue to operate under its own name, maintaining its culture, working methods, and local engagement. Meanwhile, integration with PIA Group will provide access to enhanced resources in data, IT, recruitment, HR, and marketing. This combination aims to foster knowledge sharing, collaboration, and employee development within a broader organizational framework.
Marco Vet and Marco van der Laan, partners at VANDERLAANGROEP, describe the move as a logical progression: “With this step, we strengthen our market position, broaden our service offering, and attract talented professionals. This partnership allows us to grow while remaining true to ourselves.”
PIA Group CEO Ewout Brouwers highlights the strategic fit: “VANDERLAANGROEP’s strong focus, rich history, and deep local roots align perfectly with PIA Group’s vision of entrepreneurship, quality, and collaboration. We look forward to building sustainable growth together.”
Since its founding in 2012 by Steven Brouckaert, PIA Group has expanded into an international organization with over 75 offices and 3,800 employees across the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. The group combines innovation at scale with a commitment to preserving local DNA, enabling agility in a consolidating market.
This acquisition strengthens PIA Group’s footprint in Noord-Holland, particularly in the MKB and DGA segments, and enhances its advisory and tax capabilities. The integration is expected to generate synergies through cross-selling, shared back-office functions, and improved employee development opportunities.
While the deal value was not disclosed, the strategic rationale centers on market expansion and service diversification. Challenges include maintaining VANDERLAANGROEP’s client intimacy and culture during integration and ensuring operational alignment without disrupting service quality.
PIA Group aims to continue its growth trajectory through a combination of organic development and acquisitions, positioning itself as a leading player in the European accountancy and advisory sector.
