Horticoop-backed Lumiforte Acquires Belgian Sports Line Marker Footline to Expand European Reach

Lumiforte acquires Belgian sports field line marker Footline, expanding its European market presence and product portfolio in 2026.

Horticoop-backed Lumiforte, headquartered in Baarle-Nassau, The Netherlands, announces the acquisition of Footline, Belgium’s leading sports field line marking company, as part of its ongoing European expansion strategy. The deal, announced on May 21, 2026, follows Lumiforte’s July 2025 acquisition of German firm Sportlines GmbH, further consolidating its presence in the European sports field line marking market.

While the financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, Lumiforte has acquired 100% ownership of Footline, integrating its operations into Lumiforte’s sports field line marking division alongside Sportlines GmbH. Footline will continue to operate under its established brand and retain its current team to ensure continuity for customers and partners.

Lumiforte is a global market leader specializing in high-tech coatings primarily for agriculture and horticulture sectors, with a growing footprint in sports field line marking. Its products help optimize climate conditions for crops and greenhouses worldwide. The company’s sports division markets coatings and machinery under brands such as Selectline, Serraline, and Sportlines across Europe and beyond. Lumiforte’s shareholder base includes Kartesia and Horticoop, supporting its international growth.

Footline has been a dominant player in Belgium’s sports field line marking industry, providing high-quality materials and services for football, rugby, athletics, and other sports facilities. The company is recognized for its craftsmanship, reliability, and strong relationships with sports clubs, municipalities, and contractors.

Guido Janssen, CEO of Lumiforte, states, “With the acquisition of Footline, we are welcoming a highly respected and experienced company into our group. Following the full integration of Sportlines GmbH in Germany earlier this year, this is a logical next step in our strategy to become the leading European reference in sports field line marking. Footline brings outstanding market knowledge, craftsmanship, and customer relationships that align perfectly with our ambitions.”

Marc Tratsaert, CEO of Footline, adds, “By becoming part of Lumiforte, we can continue serving our customers with the quality and service they expect, while gaining access to new technologies, products, and international expertise. This opens the door to further professionalization and growth, both in Belgium and beyond.”

The acquisition is expected to generate significant synergies, including cross-selling opportunities across expanded European markets, consolidation of manufacturing and supply chains, and shared research and development efforts. Lumiforte aims to leverage Footline’s local market expertise alongside its innovation capabilities to standardize product quality and enhance service delivery across Europe.

Market analysts note that this deal strengthens Lumiforte’s position as the leading European player in sports field line marking by combining dominant market shares in Belgium and Germany with a broader European presence. The acquisition also accelerates industry consolidation, increasing competitive pressure on smaller regional players.

Integration challenges include aligning corporate cultures and operational processes among Lumiforte, Sportlines GmbH, and Footline, as well as harmonizing product lines and maintaining customer relationships during the transition.

Looking ahead, Lumiforte plans to fully integrate Footline’s operations while preserving its brand identity and customer base. The company anticipates leveraging combined expertise to innovate sustainable, high-performance line marking solutions and expand its geographic reach across Europe.
