Sideline Group Closes Debut Fund at $155 Million to Invest in the ‘Offline’ Economy

Sideline Group, a New York-based investment firm focused on culture-setting brands and experiences at the intersection of consumer, sports, and media & entertainment, has announced the final close of its debut fund, Sideline Group Fund I, with $155 million in committed capital across the fund and its affiliated investment vehicles. The fund, announced on April 17, 2026, substantially exceeded its initial fundraising target.

Fund I was backed by a diverse group of institutional investors, including a leading US university endowment, funds of funds, and family offices, alongside sports team owners, investment firm founders, and operators — reflecting both the breadth of conviction in Sideline’s thesis and the quality of its investor base.

Sideline’s investment philosophy centres on what it calls the Offline Economy — the physical, in-real-life world that increasingly draws people away from screens and algorithms. With hybrid work and artificial intelligence reshaping how people spend their leisure time, demand for community, active lifestyles, and live experiences is accelerating. Sideline sees this as a structural tailwind for businesses tied to healthier living, sports participation, and experiential entertainment, and its portfolio reflects that conviction.

Fund I has already deployed capital into several portfolio companies: Bandit Running, a community-driven performance running brand; Urban Golf Performance, a premium golf training and fitness concept; MARI, the global events company behind the Miami Open and Madrid Open; and Milky Way Park, a platform for adventure sports and experiences.

Sideline was founded by Greg Mazlin, who began his career as a private equity investor at Silver Lake before spending nearly a decade at Tiger Global as a Partner investing in public equities across the consumer sector. Prior to launching Sideline, Mazlin was an active individual investor, with investments including the Miami Heat and Athletic Brewing. The broader Sideline team brings experience spanning Blackstone, Permira, Stripes Group, and Boston Consulting Group, underpinning the firm’s rigorous approach to due diligence and portfolio construction.
